Rhodesia in 1965 became the first country since the U.S. in 1776 to unilaterally declare independence from the British Empire.  Like America, Rhodesia suffered teething problems.  … A rebellion would eventually lead to replacement of Rhodesia's leadership in 1980 and its economic elite in 2000.  … … At the end of 1979, Rhodesia was accepted back into the British Empire for administrative purposes.  (Rhodesia's independence had never been officially recognized.)  In a few months, Britain duly granted Rhodesia its freedom and independence under the original local name of Zimbabwe.

Sorry about the confusion Ken. Emancipation is defined as "the fact or process of being set free from legal, social, or political restrictions." Originally I wanted to name the topic the "Civil War" to highlight the brave Union troops sacrificing themselves on the side opposing slavery. … But Jim Crow followed the Civil War. The 1960s were rough as Jim Crow was slow to leave, but everything was ok by the 1970s. Therefore the original topic name of the "Civil War" was too restrictive given the complications of Emancipation combined with ethnic envy, so I went with "Emancipation." … And also, during the Jim Crow period worldwide, there were world wars, resettlements, and systemic mass murder & mass slavery. … Baseball pitcher Satchel Paige overcame social restrictions.

Hi Hans. Thanks for the question. … I'm only just learning about the strategic aspects of the Civil War. The posted links provide me with a reference for later review. I decided to bypass the numerous interpretations of the Civil War and link straight back to original stories. It turns out however, heavy political fallout from the Civil War lasted for over a century and therefore the topic subject was expanded to a more flexible "Emancipation", thus allowing for more links (including worldwide).
