On 23rd of Feb Monika told me hotel not yet sold but that it will remain as a hotel.
But that may not be so unless stipulated or forms part of the contract of sale.

Hotel zum Türken in the news again ...

Nothing really new here - just a rehash of things already known, apparently to keep the controversy alive. The writer made several errors in this piece, so he and his publisher seem not too interested in reporting only facts.

I guess the offending comment(s) was/were made at some point between Geoff's note of last night and Max's response of earlier this AM. So I obviously missed those comment(s)... Glad to know that our Forum Staff is so responsive and has obviously removed those comment(s) from this thread.
Terry is absolutely right, of course; this thread and this whole Forum is NOT here to offend anyone or to demean anyone's opinion about any thread topic. Thanks, Terry, for staying on top of these matters!

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Does anyone have photos of how the SS guardhouse looked from angles other than this 'classic' view?
I am interested in what people saw as they walked or drove through it. I am assuming there was doorway leading into the cabin, but I've never seen that side of it, or what was in it.
Thanks
Chris

There are eight photos here http://www.thirdreichruins.com/miscbldgs.htm. Search that page for "Torhaus Berghof".
Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Thanks Craig, yes I noticed those earlier. I'm looking for a view of the cabin as if you were walking or driving through it. Not even sure one exists actually...CraigM wrote: ↑13 Jun 2020, 11:13There are eight photos here http://www.thirdreichruins.com/miscbldgs.htm. Search that page for "Torhaus Berghof".

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Chris,
These are the only views I have that may be useful, that aren't on my webpage. The one with the little boy was in a 1945 French newspaper (I copied it from the Archiv I.H. Scharfenberg) - you probably have this source as well; I don't recall the source of the other one, but I think it was back in this thread somewhere, discussing the Moll Bunker seen at the side there. If anyone knows the source of this image, please post it here.

This one as well, but details are in shadow (a crop from a period postcard, with Haus Salzburgblick in the background).

Is this what was known as Sperrkreis 3? If so, where were Sperrkreis 1 and 2?
Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
Hi everyone
I read an interview with the guy in Britain who is a huge collector of WW2 memorabilia, and he said in the 80's he had gone to the berghof and thru the garage you could still get into the basement. he did this and got to the bowling alley and that there were Coke signs up in the alley and that Hitler must have liked Coke
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/ ... itlers-bed
The whole place was dynamited in ’52, but my friend Adrian and I climbed through the ruins of the garage and down through air vents to get in. You can still walk through all of the underground levels. We made our way by torchlight through laundry rooms, central heating service areas. Then a bowling alley with big signs for Coke all over it. Hitler loved to drink Coke.”
is this something known? I found it interesting he could still get in and that the bowling alley was accessible back then. which means alot of the basement must still be there? Also are there any pics of the bowling alley that show any Coca Cola signs?
thanks

Re: Berghof Obersalzberg
I was under the Berghof in 1982 and found only rubble. However, my only source of light was my camera flash, even so I didn't find any signs. I'll post the remaining photos when I find them. viewtopic.php?f=44&t=28208&hilit=Bergho ... start=1935
