I don't know if this one has been posted here yet or not. A Czech Vz.24 in the hands of the SS thug on the left in Budapest, October 1944, from the Bundesarchiv Foto collection.

You are absolutely right. This is really a Czech rifle. This can be clearly seen in the following photo.

FALLAOK-F1567-L17.jpg
This one is exceptionally clear. This is a Fallschirmjager trooper with an MP38 or 40 and a captured Carcano Model 1938 Moschetto (Cavalry Carbine) behind him. He's wearing what appears to be a modified smock that incorporates a nice shoulder/arm pocket on the right side.

Good evening Poot,

What distinguishes a soldier of the W-SS from a "Thug", that would interest me?

The facial expression, the handling of the Karabiner, the facial expression, that is my question?
A photo was always a snapshot, was the soldier basically "evil", what was that?

Who has an answer?

I guess I should have been more clear and used the word 'COWARD.'

A warrior fights for his/her nation and people, and conducts themselves with honor. A COWARD rounds up unarmed, defenseless Jews and herds them into ghettos and the overcrowded Dohanyi Street synagogue so that they can be preyed upon by other COWARDS, like more SS and Arrow Cross members, or die slowly of exposure, disease and hunger. Clear? Good.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming of 'Germans with captured firearms.'
