I think this could be a useful resource for some people researching Ordnungspolizei in North Italy.

I have no connection to the seller whatsoever btw. This seller sometimes has other editions (Karstjager, or SD Medal documents or Gendarmerie as an examples).

I think these are in part sourced from NARA T-175 but some may be from Slovenian and North Italian archives or document collections.

I'd like to recommend this article about the career, life and peculiarities of Richard Hildebrandt by Wolf Stegemann from 201?. It seems well researched, Is online and free of charge. The author also dug into other members of his family

Many of my favourites were already mentioned, including 'Combat operations of Ordnungspolizei 1939 - 1945' by Michaelis, Massimo Arico's 'Ordnungspolizei Volume 1 - Encyclopedia of the German Police Battalions 1939 - 1942', I would add to that his second book 'Ordnungspolizei - Ideological war and Genocide in the East Front 1931 - 1942'.

Gents,

Did Massimo Arico ever do his Ordnungspolizei Volume 2 Encyclopedia of the German Police Battalions 1942-1945 as mentioned in his Vol 1 book?

Many thanks

The histiry of the Galician Div of the Waffen-SS vol. 1

A Book that I recieved today from Amazon.de and which was after a Quick look a great suprise . A Good suprise! I can really recomend the Book by forum member Melnyk.

Well written, I have found so far minor errors, many photos with Good caption. Something that I wish more authors could learn to take after. The Book starts from the first recruitment an onwards , unit by unit and later Combat . A lot of researchers have helped Melnyk but a lot of veterans have also contributed to this Book.

I found the Book att first at ebay.de Price was there €66 but when I Took a look at Amazon the Price was €49 well worth the money .

I am looking forward to Read Vol 2

Best regards
Georg

I contributed a paper to this book and my complimentary copy dropped through the letter box this morning:

No doubt available from amazon and other on-line book sellers. ..

Nine essays on the holocaust in the north Caucasus by SS (Kommandos of Einsatzgruppe D) and Police units:
Georgi Derlugian, "The Caucasus: A Rock in the Grinding Wheels of World History"
Kiril Feferman, "Dwelling at the Foot of a Volcano: Jewish Perspectives on the Holocaust in the North Caucasus"

This book is a useful gathering of information and resources. It does stray from Pol.Rgt.15 and basically covers this region during latewar:

SS-Polizei Regiment 15 in Italia: una documentazione. Piemonte e Lombardia

https://www.ibs.it/ss-polizei-regiment- ... 8826068381
SS-Pol.Rgt.15-Italia.jpg
One interesting thing about this book is that if you purchase the .pdf you can then use Google Translate to machine translate the entire book for you:
Translate documents
On your computer, go to Google Translate.
At the top left, click Documents.
Click Browse your computer and find the file you want to translate.
To choose the language you want to translate to, at the top right, click the Down arrow .
Click Translate.
You can then copy the contents of the google translate window and paste directly into Word and you have an entire book auto-translated. Pictures do not carry across but formatting and all text are intact.

I have not tried this yet with larger books but if anyone has a pdf of Nicht ermittelt by Stefan Klemp for example I would love to see if it would work on a book of that size. It is auto translated so - not perfect but useful for most purposes.

Book 2 is this one, I mentioned this in a separate thread but including here for completeness:
'Befehlshaber der Sicherheitsdienst und des SD-HSSuPF Italien Dienstbefehl + Dokumenten'

Is there no author for book 2? I wonder who did publish it? While I´m very interested to read documents from that time I only hope they did not translate them. Already the front cover contains lots of incorrect grammar- and spelling errors.

Generation des Unbedingten ( leaders of RSHA) by Michael Wildt.

Georges
I got My copy today, I know I should have bought it earlier the only excuse I have is that Booklooker and Amazon is two expencive places to visit.

Georges recommended this Book, and I can only för the same 965 pages of fashinating history about SD/RSHA and the men in that office.

I'd like to recommend the online version of Theo Gerritse's phd-thesis and biography on HSSPF Hanns Albin Rauter, it is an open source. I don't read Dutch unfortunately but with Deepl translation on one screen and the online text on the other it works out fairly well. The dissertation is loaded with German quotes from the man, it helps too. I'd like to emphasize Gerritse's section on Lingua Rauteri, it is hilarious. The book comprehends his entire lifespan right to the end in the dunes of Scheveningen
