"Gauleiter", Volume 3

#1

Post by Michael Miller » 08 Nov 2019, 16:40

A brief announcement: The manuscript for Volume 3 of Gauleiter: The Regional Leaders of the Nazi Party and Their Deputies, 1925-1945, covering Fritz Sauckel through Hans Zimmermann, has been mailed to my publisher, Roger Bender, and should be released within the coming year.

Now devoting all energy toward the new and vastly improved re-issue of Leaders of the Storm Troops, Volume 1.

Best wishes,
~ Mike

The previous publisher of the SA book failed on paper quality- no gloss whatsoever and the photos, even the wonderfully high resolution Hoffmann portraits, suffered horribly. A huge and bitter disappointment on all fronts. The new one will have glossy pages, better binding, and a wealth of new information and photos. At least 100 more pages by my estimation, but it will only be A-H (not including the couple of "J" names this go-around).

Best wishes,
~ Mike

Volume 2 was never published. But they did prepare a cover for it which can still be seen at Amazon.

Can anyone out there share the fate of "Gauleiter vol.3" by Michael Miller? Wondering about this and other titles after the heartbreaking loss of Roger Bender. Mike if you are out there, can u shed some light? Thanks.

Fonthill Media in the U.K. has picked up Volume 3 of "Gauleiter". I've sent them the text and photos. Hoping it'll be done within the next year.

It appears they'll also be doing my and Andreas Schulz's "Leaders of the Storm Troops" (starting with a vastly improved and expanded Volume 1).

Thanks very much for your interest in our work. And I too remain heartbroken about the loss of my friend and publisher of 20 years. Grotesquely fitting that this wretched year began on that note.

Sincerely,
~ Mike

Thanks so much for the reply Mike. I think your work is fantastic. I'm betting Roger is up there smiling that you and others are continuing to "move the ball forward". Can't wait for your titles to come out. I have the Stormtroops book and I think the revision will be great for the pics. as well as extra info. Can't wait. Thanks again.

I have been fortunate to have seen and reviewed the manuscripts for Mike's upcoming books and I can tell you -- you ain't seen nothing yet !!! Loads of fantastic information found nowhere else and the photos will knock your socks off. They are becoming the standard works for the Gauleiters and the leaders of the various orgs. If you haven't picked up any of Mike's books, you are missing a chance to enhance your knowledge. I refer to them almost everyday for various reasons to search out an individual or an event. They are simply priceless for the researcher and collector. Mike is really the leader in this this field. These are time exhausting subjects and thankfully we have Mike and his due diligence that allows us to reap the benefits of his research.

Very kind words and the Roger reference in particular hits me right in the heart, but in a good way.

Great news! Hope Fonthill is stepping up with the heavy gloss paper and heavy binding. Tough to beat Roger's quality.

Update on Gauleiter, Volume 3: I expect it will be released by Fonthill during the first half of 2021. 37 biographical sketches (Fritz Sauckel to Hans Zimmermann), upwards of 600 pages, and 508 photos (and an excellently-written foreword by our own Br. James). The eventual fourth volume will cover all the pre-Anschluß Austrian Gauleiters and all stellvertretender (deputy) Gauleiters.

Next up will be a vastly expanded and improved Leaders of the Storm Troops, Volume 1.

With best wishes and thanks to all who've shown interest,
~ Mike
