Re: The "Destroyed bunkers" thread
Good evening everyone,
Here are some articles newspapers from "La Voix du Nord" from 1995 showing the destruction of the Boulogne's harbour Gefechsstand. It was built in the former seamen's calvary, on the edge of the cliff near La Tour d'Odre's fort (Stp 224 Strandhafer). In the morning of the January 24th 1995, a wall of the calvary collapsed with due to a part of the cliff's collapse. The calvary's destruction with the bunker must have been necessary. The bunker was built in 1941.

The destruction of one of the beautiful gunbunkers of MKB Westduin shortly after the big flood of 1953.
First they put in the explosives and igniters, then closed all the openings, filled up the bunkers with water to make sure the blastwave spreads equal and then....
Still hurts to look at this:-)

https://actu.fr/bretagne/saint-malo_352 ... cbBcykfvBgA WWII blockhouse discovered in Saint-Malo
A blockhouse of approximately 150 m2 was discovered on Quai Trichet, in Saint-Malo. It was used as a shelter for the port firefighters during World War II.
The History renovated area Saint-Malo . During the fitting out of a new building along Quai Trichet , workers recently unearthed a blockhouse dating from the Second World War .
The structure of about 150 m2 was until then semi-underground and hidden in the middle of the plot where the old SNSM hangars were installed .

During the Second World War, a "fortress" of 250 km2 and strong of 550 blockhouses had been fitted out by the German occupier in the region of Saint-Malo, from Saint-Benoit-des-Ondes to Saint-Briac and, in the land, as far as Pleurtuit and Châteauneuf d'Ille-et-Vilaine.
Doomed for demolition
This former blockhouse on Quai Trichet is now slated for demolition and should be cut with a thermal saw.
