Notice that the band either changed its Schellenbaum banner three times or the Standarte had more than one band - which is quite possible, since it consisted of 10 battalions, stationed in different parts of Germany, Poland and Czechoslovakia. I haven't found info on any battalion bands so far, but some (unposted) photos do suggest that the battalions, or at least some of them, had their own Spielmannszüge.

The first banner is seen in the photos from 1937-1939 (Berlin, Vienna), the second in the 1942 photo (Berlin) and the third is seen in the 1943 photos from Prague, in the undated photos from Dresden and in the one from Thomas' collection (date/location unknown).

Another nice video (again with no sound, unfortunately) showing several bands (SA, RAD, early Luftwaffe) playing on the occasion of Göring's birthday. It might well have been taken on the same day as the video that I posted earlier and that showed both the SZ and the MZ of SA-Standarte "Feldherrnhalle" playing in front of HG. It is quite unlikely that the SA musicians that can be seen at the beginning belonged to the "Feldherrnhalle" Standarte. They do not wear the typical gorget and their Schellenbaum is very different.

In the second half of the video however, there is no doubt that it is men of SA-Standarte "Feldherrnhalle". Most interesting is a very nice close-up view of the Schellenbaum banner at 01:14. The event being dated January 1937, it is consistent with the "type 1" banner shown by Ivan that could have been in use at that time.

Thanks for posting, Maiko. Now we can see the banner clearly.

The letter "W" below the eagle stands for "Wach-" (Wach-Standarte, Wach-Regiment, Wach-Bataillon), meaning "guard" (this SA-Standarte was indeed a Wachstandarte, i.e. guard regiment).

Remember Tumforde's 1936 Grammophon records with political songs ("Der Führer ruft" and others)? There's the same letter appearing on some of the record labels, indicating the choir's unit: "Sturmbann I/W" - which means "I. Sturmbann der Wachstandarte" (at the time, July 1936, the Wachstandarte was called "Stabschef"; it was renamed "Feldherrnhalle" a couple of months later).

Note that this Sturmbann (battalion) was actually stationed in Gütergotz (in 1937 renamed Güterfelde), not Jüterbog (it's a mistake).
Correct credits, from a Grammophon catalog:

Here's also an example of regimental band credits on a Grammophon record label (1937), after the renaming of the unit to "Feldherrnhalle".

(Notice the wrong spelling with an extra "t": Wachtstandarte.)

Ivan

A rare photo of the SA-Standarte "Feldherrnhalle" band marching in Luftwaffe uniforms (carrying their SA Schellenbaum) before Hermann Göring in Freudenthal (Bruntál), Sudetenland, October 1938.

Hello everyone!

I think it's worth pointing out which songs were recorded by this band:

- Arbeiter, Bauern, Soldaten

- Jugend, wir tragen die Fahnen

- Wir wollen dich Fahne, enthüllen

- S.A., halte Wacht

- Sonderburger Doppelachter (as stated above)

...the following two images came from the same album / same location, as if whoever took the image was moving along the line...you can clearly see the distinct 'FHH' emblem on the 'kragenspiegel'....
