Armstrong 1891....A very old gun design indeed

Sturm78
Hi Sturm, the 152/40 gun has been updated several times (enlarge the drawing, bottom left) and remained in use until the end of WW2.

I would say from the shape and configuration of the gun shield that this is most likely a 150 MM Skoda L 50 K 10, called by the Italians a 149 MM 47 in my records. War reparations from WW I.

Hi ROLAND1369

It could be....although the shield not match exactly....
According to photo caption, the image was taken in La Spezia. Do you know if there were 15cm Skoda K10 L50 guns installed in La Spezia ?

Agreed it does not match exactly but as I have said before in the course of their production most military equipment receives modification, Look closely around the gun shield opening at the rivets as found on both pictures. Just one point. As for the caption I long ago learned not to trust them. They are more often wrong than right. I have no documentation on the nomenclature of the weapons a La Spezia.

Hi Sturm, the gun in your photo is a 152/50 A 1918, from the "Ronca Battery" on the "Isola del Tino" in La Spezia. The photo was taken during the German occupation. I am attaching three photos of the same battery, all taken from the site of the "Istituto Luce" (an institution of the Italian State, which dealt with cinema and photography).

Hi Jos,
this is the "Cavour" battery in the island of Palmaria near La Spezia.

I add two photos of 1941 (from "istituto Luce" site)
Una batteria antinave nella primavera 1941 1.jpg
Una batteria antinave nella primavera 1941 2.jpg
and a drawing and another photo taken during the german occupation (from a book of Gabriele Faggioni about the fortification of Liguria) .

In the drawing, the battery for the four 305/17 Mod. 1914 in in the upper left.
