hi,

the location Lorient is confirmed by the three-funnel-ship visible in the background, since 1936 a barracks ship, before that the light cruiser STRASBOURG, ceded to France by Germany according to the Peace Treaty of Versailles (1919) in 1920 and before that (1915-1920) the light cruiser REGENSBURG of the Imperial German Navy.

Hello to all :D; a little more: St. Nazaire.

According to the sources here we see the U 94 of the Kplt. Herbert Kuppisch after his arrival at St. Nazaire, apparently carries two life preservers on the bow on the conning tower. (In fact it's U 48 - thanks Pikap)......................

Hello to all :D; a little more: The U-Bootwaffe in action. Friendly fire!

(*) July 5, 1942 at 6:25 p.m. attacked by own forces, a Ju-88 in AC29 - 3 bombs, machine guns, serious damage, able to dive.

Any ideas regarding the type of damage? Cheers. Raúl M 8-).

A story set within the greatest tragedy such as that of the PQ-17 convoy in mid-1942, when U-334 was accidentally attacked and damaged by a Luftwaffe Ju 88 (*). Here is U-334 leaving Trondheim on this fateful patrol (June 15, 1942 at 8:45 pm), its crew dressed in straw hats and English bowler hats..............
