HM, thanks so much for providing an example of the signature! We know without a doubt that it's Krichbaum now. I am still surprised's its him! He seems to have an interesting life post war, involved with the KGB and CIA.

Note: I didn´t find the acronym "NSG" within the German Military Abbreviations -dictionary and believe that "NS" was meant what in this case would stand for "Nachrichtenschule" resp. Signal Corps School.

Armin, I believe it´s rather "Dr. K Bungardt" with the letter "r" in "Dr =Doctor" superscripted. Have seen this variant several times in the past.

(Well, signatures are a special thing)

As now confirmed with these last signatures, A13 was a special compound within this Heilbronn POW-Camp, for officers only and " special guests" like SS and Air Borne units, seperated from normal POW's.

There are some interesting weblinks for these so-called "Rheinwiesenlager", but not all of them available in English language I'm afraid:

Armin and Roman, you guys are the best!! Thanks again for all your help, it means a lot that you are able to bring this diary to life for me

I hope you both get some enjoyment out of it too, as I feel like this journal has probably been hidden away for years in a box somewhere. I am guessing that all the people that signed it have passed away, it would have been amazing if one of them was still alive and I could have asked them if they remembered signing it. But all the names I have searched so far have either died or I couldn't find anything.

So then the owner of this diary would have to have been an officer or at least someone special...very interesting.

Pfeiffer used a quote (the first lines) from the poem "Die wiedergefundenen Söhne = The recovered sons" by Johann Gottfried Herder (1744 1803. I only would like to know why he used a capital letter in "endure" what is wrong as it´s within the sentence and should be spelled "ertrage/endure".

But I also wonder what T.D. stands for? Reminds me onto "Didier" a name which might occure in Quebec, but so might "Thierry". Visited Ontario and Quebec a couple times, but that´s another story .....
