Hi armchairgeneral,

You are right, the vehicle on Your pic is a Volkswagen Kübelwagen modification and it´s a post-war conversion (the license plate is post-war). I think it is a vehicle with a special gas engine. Here two pics: another Volkswagen Kübelwagen modification (source: "Volkswagen Militärfahrzeuge 1938 - 1945" by Hans-Georg Mayer-Stein) and a pic of a MAN bus with a special gas engine (1943) (source: https://omnibus.news/75-jahre-gasantrieb).
I hope I could help You a little bit.

Regards

Bert

Thanks SIS 5!

Probably not the best source, but could it be related to the Type 309 mentioned in the linked provided? So far, all the types listed have checked out, though its getting harder to find actual photos of them the further down the list I go.

https://www.nevingtonwarmuseum.com/germ ... wagen.html

In the meantime, I got another Kubelwagen if you're interested in taking a look. If I am to believe the list I provided, its the Type 164, though the description on the site is a bit ambigious.

Hi armchairgeneral,

sorry, the Volkswagen on Your pic cannot be the type 164. This type was not built. There were only plans of it. Here a copy. Source: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewt ... ?p=7897751.
The Volkswagen on Your pic could be the type 276 (tractor vehicle) with a swank for towing a load, gun or trailer. This type had bigger tyres. Here there were mounted four wheels on the rear axle for improving the traction when towing off-road or here in the snow.

Regards

Please help to ID these vehicles - battle of Stalingrad survivors. Any chance to ID a motorcycle as well?

Thanks in advance!

Aha. Thank you for the clarification SIS 5. I was not sure if the description meant six wheels as in dualies or six wheels as in 3 axels. I have a picture of the Type 276 Schlepperfahrzeug towing a PAK, though it does not have the dual wheels in the rear. Interesting that the designers made this alteration for improved traction, I am to guess for the Eastern Front.

Hi Alexander,

the motorcycle on Your pic is a Zündapp KS 750. Here a pic of this vehicle (source of the pic: https://deacademic.com/pictures/dewiki/ ... ph-004.JPG).

Hello Alexander,
The vehicle in the foreground of your second pic appears to me a mittlere Einheits-Pkw., Kfz. 17.

Hi Alexander,

the truck on Your second pic could be a French Matford type F 01 W or F 11 W. Here a pic of such a truck (source: ebay).

Hi Kerry,
They look like like '38 Oldsmobiles to me, Benelux cabs most likely.

Hi Max,
It looks crazy, perhaps they are trying to pull it sideways onto firmer ground? It does look like the front wheel at least has sunk into the mud. I do not fancy their chances!!
Cheers,
Kerry.

Hi Kerry,
Could be. It does look like they have a line hitched to the lorry as well. Maybe when that starts pulling forward the boys will heave to and try to get the Pkw more in line with it. Interesting pic. Do the unis look RAD to you?

I've looked at Dixi/BMW and Opel but can't find a match on the bonnet louvers. Can someone help?
