Dear friends at axis history forums,
my great-grandfather was an Austrian named Otto Poschacher. He was born in 1915 and in the early 1980's he wrote his memoirs detailing the first 30 years of his life, and so to the end of the Second World War. He only had a handful of copies of these memoirs published at a small bindery. Over the past 4 years I have been translating these works and you may have seen me intermittently coming here and asking for your help with specific translations or background information on specific military terms.
I have now completed this work and have published the books on amazon. I have given these URLs for the main amazon website but you can change these to the country of your choice and the links will still work (i.e, change the part of the URL that says "amazon.com" to say "amazon.co.uk" or "amazon.de" or wherever you are buying from.)
Volume I:
https://www.amazon.com/30-Years-Travels ... 331&sr=1-2
Volume II:

I intend on also reproducing the original German texts with the same covers and I will post another update here once I have these as well.
Since there are spoilers below I have picked an illegible font colour, highlight the text if you want to read what he got up to to see if it suits whatever you are researching yourself.
The books detail my great-grandfather growing up in Austria before joining the SA Austrian Legion, then moving to the Wehrmacht and the 9th MG battalion in Heiligenbeil (modern day Mamonovo,) and finally the 4th company, 137th regiment, 1st battalion of the 2nd Gebirgsdivision of the Gebirgsjäger where he served for the rest of the war until being wounded in Neu-Breisach. The final third of the second volume details his moving across Germany in the latter stages of the war trying to avoid being sent to the front again despite his wound. My great-grandfather saw campaigns in Poland as far as modern day Lviv, travelled through Norway and then spent most of the war fighting to get to Murmansk after having invaded the Soviet Union. After being pushed back he marched through most of Norway again before being wounded on the Western Front.
As you can maybe imagine this project has been very profound for me and I would have liked to have given readers here a discount of some kind but unfortunately I do not see such an option in the KDP marketing screen, perhaps I am just not looking hard enough.
Have a great day and thank you all for your help over the years!
