Good morning Filip,

thanks for your reply, I was asking about the very small, as you called them "fezzes" used in combat.

Please see the attached photo:

Thanks George,

so, a "pleat" ironed in the top of the fez is similar to a "Bügelfalte" in the german language...

Like the modern "french disease", talking about the mostly small berets in the military in later years?

Hans1906

P.S. I remember the term "Französische Krankheit" (French disease...) for wearing very small berets,
as small, as possible.

Hello again, Hans,

The variation you posted in your photo is the so-called Albanerfez, a Fez variation for Albanians. It was worn only in the Albanian battalion of the 13th SS Division.

Hope this helped

Hello!

I will supplement your assertion since there are also several examples of the use of such fez by Albanian soldiers from the 21-SS Division.

Best regards
Dmitrii

Hello again,

I think it might be an image by SS-PK Nonnenmacher, but I have no confirmation yet. Coincidentally, I came across the same picture today in a local library while browsing through Hungarian wartime magazines, and it was included in a propaganda report on the "Handschar" Division, which had several photos that I know were taken by this photographer. Naturally, that doesn't mean that all the images included in the report were his, but there's a chance. Unfortunately, the Hungarian press, as usual, credited no photographer for the photos.

Cheers,
Ivan
