So many upcoming 12 SS books!
What's with all the 12th SS books coming out? Yes, they were an interesting unit, performing especially well in Normandy, but this feels like a little bit too much. I would prefer English translations of some of the really good German unit histories of Heer and Luftwaffe ground units.....
Stackpole is reprinting the 12th ss book by Hubert Meyer:

Then there are these two new books coming out:

Re: So many upcoming 12 SS books!
I have a few more translations in the Wehrmacht im Kampf series that will be published by Casemate next year. Wilhelm Hess's Arctic Front deals with the operations of Mountain Corps Norway in 1941, Walter Chales de Beaulieu's General Erich Hoepner examines the operations of the panzer units commanded by Hoepner, and Oskar Munzel's Panzer Tactics looks at the XXXXVIII Panzer Corps and a few other panzer formations in Ukraine in 1941. Hopefully, one or more of those will be of interest (https://www.casematepublishers.com/subj ... kampf.html).

I actually already pre-ordered all of those books! Arctic Front, General Erich Hoepner, Panzer Tactics, and also Narvik!!!! I love these translations of these books, and already own Vitebsk, and Operation Crusader. Are there any other one that are planned in the future????

I intend to translate further books in the Wehrmacht im Kampf series for the foreseeable future. All going well, another three or four should appear in 2022, although I cannot confirm at this stage which titles they will be.
I am glad to know that you enjoy the books so much, krichter33.

Thank you Mr.Lyons for your efforts, which are very much appreciated by many readers, I am sure. All books from this series are either on my shelf already or pre-ordered. Any chance to see Steets Gebirgsjager titles eventually?

Re: So many upcoming 12 SS books!
I have certainly had my eye on the three volumes by Hans Steets and the one by Eberhard von Mackensen. They would complement Oskar Munzel's Panzer Tactics in providing an overview of German military operations in the area of Army Group South in 1941. But at this stage, a firm decision on the titles to be translated after Panzer Tactics is yet to be made.
It is great to know that you enjoy the books too, DT-SC.

Thank you; will be looking forward to new books!
Re: So many upcoming 12 SS books!
I've been interested in an exhaustive 12th SS unit history that is up-to date and brings everything since the Meyer history together. This would have to be at least a thousand pages long.
Saunder's Hill 112 / Epsom was largely from the British/Canadian perspective. They were better than nothing but on the superficial side. It left me wanting to read a better book. Not sure how good this one will be (320 pages, 6 x 9 inches)
The Mansolas book looks to hold more promise but need to see a preview first.

I think based on what he has written before that Saunders is more of a "general" writer. I own Mansolas's Monte Cassino book. And though it is short, it is very detailed, with a lot of personal accounts. Based on this I think I'll pre-order the Mansolas book.

No Canadians at Hill 112 not in June or July. I would hardly call Saunder's work 'superficial'. Its full of first -hand British accounts of the type that (if they were German) would have admirers of those who wear 'skull caps' salivating.

Spoke too soon-started reading the 12th SSPZR by Stephan Cazenave. It's a cut above the other 12th SS books that I collected. Cazenave's books on the 12th SS PZD and other units should ALL be translated into english.

Re: So many upcoming 12 SS books!
Is there any other division that failed in all its operations and still occupies such a fascination?

Look above you and you will see that you are on "Axis history forum", maybe you and the other Allied biased should leave this place right now and never return. This topic of 12th SS seems to drive the british biased rather madTom from Cornwall wrote: ↑29 Nov 2020, 17:51Is there any other division that failed in all its operations and still occupies such a fascination?
There has to be a better forum for Allied oriented who are idling around and have nothing to do eg.
