Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
i think ist fair to say that Divisions like Prinz Eugen and Florian Geyer were full of war criminals that were torturing and murdering basically only local civilians and jews. and all this under the guise of "anti partizan-actions"

Hey there Ofizzier1916,
Whilst Prinz Eugen was certainly notorious for its war crimes, I encourage you to stay in lane, if you're mentioning a specific war crime, make a specific thread or post it alongside a fitting image. This sort of whataboutism does not contribute.
Cheers, Filip

Hello everyone,
Does anyone know who this SS-Standartenführer is? He has the German Cross medal and I'm quite sure he is depcited somewhere in Bosnia (Muslim men and a Mosque in the background). Quite an interesting photo, would love to know the details.
Cheers, Filip

Hello, Filip
It's Schmidhuber as commander of the newly-formed Albanian SS division, Priština, 1944.
For more info, see: http://bandenkampf.blogspot.com/2015/08/bk0016.html

Hello, Filip
It's occupied Yugoslavia (Serbia), not Albania (there are many mosques in Serbia, mostly built during the Turkish rule).

Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
I apologize in advance for the lack of source on the photo, I believe it came from the Facebook group "Sarajevo forever" after one of the users shared it to the admin from their private collection.
Anyways, long story short, its another one belonging to the now formidable photo collection of the Lav Cemetery in Sarajevo, naturally related to the 7. SS-Division "Prinz Eugen". The background corresponds to other photos posted of this nature, mid 1944 in Sarajevo.
Cheers,
Filip

Hello, Filip
A nice photo, too bad the quality is so low. Notice the army (Heer) priest in the centre. Not sure that the soldiers are SS men though; there's no insignia visible.
Perhaps the last two posts (mine being the 2nd) would fit better in this topic viewtopic.php?f=50&t=239975
Cheers,
Ivan

Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
Members of the SS "Prinz Eugen" during "Unternehmen Schwarz", fully camouflaged firing from a Czech "Zb vz. 26" Machine Gun. Any indication whether this specific shot was taken in Montenegro or Bosnia and Herzegovina? (btw I slightly restored the original photo)

The end of the first phase of the operation = Montenegro. (The next Kemps' film shows the division staff near Gacko between the two phases.)

The photos are almost certainly taken at Kienschlag...
I guess it must be an error on the back of the second photo then.
...but they must have been taken after 21.VI 1943, because Phleps has a rank of SS-Ogruf.
Check this out: these are parts of two photos published in Kumm's History of PE.
They were taken in Mostar during SS-PE parade on 8.VII 1943.

I believe I've recognized (from left) von Oberkamp, Schmidhuber and Eberhardt.
So, Eberhardt was still in SS-PE in July 1943.
As I wrote before, in his bio (that I've managed to find so far) he was in SS-PE until June 1943.
And there's a gap between June 1943 and October 1943, when he was assigned to SS-T Division.
As I also wrote before, I believe he was with Phleps in Gebirgskorps,
but I still didn't get any confirmation...
Cheers,
Ivan
I think i'd seen of same photo but other moment of your photo which you posted here with Kumm, Phleps and upper left tall Kempin in front of T-34 chasis with HHL 3 mine:

Hello, Michal, and
There was another photo from Kienschlag posted on p. 22 of this thread (from eBay, Nov. 2005), but it disappeared in time. Here it is again:
You'll find another photo (showing Phleps, Kumm and Kempin) in Yerger's Streifzüge, p. 115.
Cheers,
Ivan

Re: SS-Division "Prinz Eugen" photos
Thanks for the photos, Michal, but please also credit the sources. The first one you posted (with red markers) originates from Clara (alias Lohengrin); what about the other three?
By the way, notice there's a Hungarian officer in the last image, on the right, with a sabre.
Cheers,
Ivan
