Hi,
Bonifacio Pignatti Morano di Custoza was the Italian ambassador in Paris from 1932 till 1935.
There he is during his first day in Paris :

Carlo Pignatti Morano Di Custoza was a grand admiral in the Italian navy. Born in 1869 he was 53 yo when Mussolini came in power. He was well treated by Mussolini :
I guess he was the brother or cousin of Carlo Pignatti Morano Di Custoza, the grand amiral ?
https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlo_Pig ... di_Custoza
Hans Baur, Hitler's pilot, confides in his book that Hitler explained to him that Custoza was the guy who warned him about "Röhm coup d'etat" which led to the Night of the Long Knives.
Does anybody have more info about this unrecognized guy ?
Did he write his memoirs or something ?
Thanks a lot

Re: Carlo Pignatti Morano Di Custoza
I don't understand if this thread is about Bonifacio or Carlo (by the way, here are some information about Carlo: https://notes9.senato.it/web/senregno.n ... enDocument).
I haven't found any memoirs or diaries by Bonifacio, but this book Italian ambassadors to the Holy See provides his biographical profile: http://www.congedoeditore.it/gli-ambasc ... -1943.html
AFAIK, Bonifacio was not an officer of the Regia Marina, while Carlo was "ammiraglio di squadra", which does not translate with "grand admiral". This latter rank was the top for the Italian Navy, equivalent to marshall of Italy for the Army and marshall of the air for the Air Force. The only grand admiral was Paolo Thaon di Revel.

I think he‘s looking for more on the diplomat Bonifacio.
Asking if and how he‘s related to Carlo and not least the “Hitler told Baur about Custoza telling him about Röhm“ story.

Re: Carlo Pignatti Morano Di Custoza
I just wondered if they were related and in what extent.
It should be a big family. Why we don't know more about them ?
Thank you(by the way, here are some information about Carlo: https://notes9.senato.it/web/senregno.n ... enDocument).
Me neither.I haven't found any memoirs or diaries by Bonifacio,

You are right. Thanks for correction.AFAIK, Bonifacio was not an officer of the Regia Marina, while Carlo was "ammiraglio di squadra", which does not translate with "grand admiral".
