The example No.10 of the top secret Album was captured by Finnish forces on the Karelian isthmus in autumn 1941.
Another central source for our book is the Souvenir Album "The Mannerheim line is broken 11 February 1940" (extremely small print run, intended for the top Soviet leaders).
The first album was referred to by General Meretskov when defending himself against accusations during the Winter-war "post mortem" conference led by Stalin in Kremlin 14-17 April 1940; see Zimnaya vojna 1939-1940. I.V. Stalin i Finskaya kampaniya, Nauka 1998, page 149 -> (in Finnish: Puna-armeija Stalinin tentissä, Edita 1997, p. 257->)
Book cover, page 17 and page 160 of our book are enclosed:

Re: Album of the Mannerheim Line fortifications
I have read in a few books upon the Winter War that the Soviet Union had received certain plans and maps of the Line from Germany, which had obtained them through their Military Attache in the Embassy in Helsinki.
Does anyone know if this story is true or have a source for it?
Regards,
Laurance

Re: Album of the Mannerheim Line fortifications
Good morning,
I have never heard that the Red Army received information from Germany, but it of course possible (although not very likely to my mind).
One copy of the original Soviet "Black Album" is kept in the archive of the Museum of Western Military District (former Leningrad MD) in St.Peterburg, and was recently presented in a television-documentary transmitted by the Zvezda-channel (with the Finnish spy Vilho Pentikäinen as "main star"); see
