Hi everyone

I was doing some google earth looking today (still cant believe they have it so rarely in Germany ) but was tracing the road up from Berchtesgaden to the old Berghof. as you go up the road, when you turn left off the main rd to go past the old Guardhouse foundation, there is a stone wall there. it looks somewhat like Hitlers driveway walls

i am curious if any of these walls are from that time?

also

is the road from town the exact same as it was then in terms of the route?

I have been there and I made a screendump of Google Earth and the red Dot point out where AH's house (Berghof) was located. The house to the right if Hotel v Türken

The only thing remains is the supportive Wall in the back of the house.

Probably.

The road is contemporary. It appears on contemporary reconnaissance photo's.
All the roads and buildings on this map are verified.


Roughly the roads are in the same locations. Between the former Berghof location and hotel Zum Turken the road is a bit different, due to all the bomb damage.

This image is from before the Wachenfeld -> Berghof transformation, the property and road surroundings do not seem to have any stone borders there yet.

It looks like the driver might actually be engaged in a three point turn.

It'll be interesting to learn the details of that car. I dare say its apparent wheel base is a far cry from that of the limos that typically occupied that driveway during the TR era.

I am of the mind that a turn around was only done with great difficulty and rarely if ever happened after determining that it could be done. Besides, I doubt anybody really wanted to be responsible for sending the Führer's Mercedes careening down the side of the hill because of an ill advised bet.
