Why couldn't the Germans land in Georgia or Archangel?

Discussions on all (non-biographical) aspects of the Kriegsmarine except those dealing with the U-Boat forces.

Why couldn't the Germans land in Georgia or Archangel?

I am assuming because they didn't have amphibious landing capabilities, logistics, Soviet defenses, or something like that, but is there a more detailed answer? Archangel and coastal Georgia seem like important positions that would have benefited the Germans. Even before the capture of Maikop, why not just there beforehand?

Because any force the Germans could possibly land would be quickly outnumbered, surrounded and destroyed.

The Germans had quite limited amount of shipping. Could only land a small force and woudl be outnumbered justby local garrison forces, and railways can bring in reinforcements quickly.

Naval Invasions are hard. Everything has to be brought in. Landing a small force where the enemy as logistical infrastructure to move of much more powerful forces is basically doomed to fail.

Normandy the allies had vast naval resources, could land a string force within air support range.
