Yes, the device in your picture is the Am 17, which, according to Werner Mueller, was a later development of the original Am Peres.
The Am Peres of 1915 (probably designated as the Am 15?) is shown in the attached picture.

Hi all,

I posted images of this Italian device here on 07 Feb 2018 and 11 Jun 2010. It was identified by T. A. Gardner member as a Italian heliograph for communications signaling.
But in this image (from LUCE archive) appear associated to an AA battery....Which could be the use of a heliograph in an AA battery ? :?

Early warning from an observation post or the like, alerting the battery to incoming aircraft? That is, it is two-way communication so the observers know that the AA battery has received the message.

Ummhhhh....Well, it is possible that you are right but... why not use a radio equipment ? :?

On the other hand, I founfd this other image of the same photo serie (from LUCE archive ) associated to an AA battery.
Any idea about the exact purpose and his Italian designation ?

This is a superbly interesting thread. I still seek several WWI German items but like most good equipments nations will often use the original and adapt. Does anyone have any details on all the kit/accessories for the EM14. Entfernungsmesser 1914 model?
Thanks
Mark
