Well done Brano. It’s the Vomag 660 mit 8.8cm, the bus service that blows away all opposition. This one was found amongst Buda castle, after the capitulation on 12th Feb 45. It must have been one of the last survivors. So it served from 1940-1945, a very long life for an afv in that war.

Your turn mate.

Hi
I think it's an Italian Ansaldo Lancia 1ZM (4x2) armoured car of WWI vintage.

I would say and armored body on a Krupp Protze truck.

Hi Armin,
I think this is the armored Laffly W15T, redesigned by Becker's team (Baukommando Becker), which was designated as the Laffly W15VBD:

Hi everybody
I must say it was fast this time.
It is a SPW on a Krupp Protze chassis. Here one more picture of this conversion.
So Roland1369 is right and it is his turn.

The Laffly though is very similar. But I'm not sure that the picture shows a 4x4 version.
If you look closely you can see both back wheels on the right hand side of the vehicle.

Armin, I for one have never believed in the armoured Krupp and I don't see anything in your photograph that changes my mind.

Strange, but the armored Krupp Protze looked different from behind:

In your photo, some modification of an armored personnel carrier unknown to me. Armin, can I get more information about this conversion?

Weren't the Krupp Protze with Sd Kfz 251 bodies made of wood and used for training ? The overhead shot of the early Sd Kfz 251 body is certainly a wooden body mocked up to fit Krupp Protze chassis as the dimensions are off and the armored vision ports are wrong. This has nothing to do with the Sd Kfz 247.

This is what I have always believed.

The quiz photo can't be the armoured Laffly, as the distance in the quiz photo between the top of the rear mudguard, and the horizontal seam/joint of the 2 side armour panels is too big. It looks like the standard angles and dimensions of an SPW type body.

Alan, do you mean you doubt that its real armour? If it is a wooden body, then its in the wrong quiz... :o

Hi everybody
please excuse my delayed reply.
As I'm not a researcher with a large libary and original documents
but only a guy who has an interest in German tanks and collects pictures
of them I have always to rely on someone to provide information.
There are many of those conversions, one of a kind or small series.
Most of the time it is very difficult to get information on these oddballs,
often they are not listed in books and we have only pictoral evidence of them.
This applies to the vehicle above as I'm concerned. I do not have any more information
but for me this Krupp Protze has a superstructure made of armoured plates
or soft iron. For me it looks like there is a weld seam across the motor hood and
I think that the back door would not hold long were it made of ply wood.
I also think that the driver's and co-driver's visors do not have to be necessarily
the standard aemoured ones. The Laffly which has definately an armoured
body has also simple lids to cover the openings.
That's only what I believe and of course it also could be made of wood as Alan claims.
Everything is possibly and what I see is maybe only what I want to see.
Anyway I think we can agree that the base for this conversion is a Krupp Protze.
So Roland1369 can go on with the quiz.

Regards
Armin
