Re: SS ID Quiz
Hugo,
This is not a general knowledge quiz. It is a quiz based upon people recognising a photograph, with clues to assist that recognition. To obliterate the subject's features and then ask people to guess who it is through clues is not in the spirit of the ID quiz, no matter how rare images of the subject are. As you have told me who the subject is, I will not divulge the identity, but in the interests of fair play I request you either provide another image of the subject without the same level of obliteration, or provide the answer and throw the next go open to any contributor, or choose an entirely new subject yourself.
Thanks and regards,
Max.

One from me - who's this man?
Re: SS ID Quiz
Hi Marek,
I think we should wait for Hugo´s respond. We still don´t know if he wants to continue or give the turn to someone else.
Best,
Michal

Re: SS ID Quiz
As I told Max, I understand his reasons.
However I’ve seen a number a pics totally unknown to me/us where the clues gave it away. I had 3 more clues ready, SS-Oberführer, died in an air raid 1945 and recommended for the German Cross in Silver. I’m sure somebody would have come up with Humbert Achamer-Pifrader. I’m convinced almost nobody would have identified him by just putting his picture here!
Anyone can take the turn.

I'm afraid you are totally missing the point. I am sure someone would eventually come up with the correct answer given enough clues. However, this defeats the object of this ID quiz which is to enlighten everyone as to what these guys looked like. Even if someone guessed your clues, we would still be none the wiser as to what Achamer-Pifrader looked like because your photo has a large letter 'H' over his face! In fact, we are still in the dark. We don't know what he looks like! If your reasoning was acceptable, then why bother with the photo at all? You might just as well post the clues! No, a posted photo must be recognisable from the features and clues are only given to assist with that recognition.
Sorry to everyone for interrupting, but this needed saying. Anyway, on with Halfdan's offering.
Max.

Re: SS ID Quiz
Sorry, I didn't observe the prior discussion, just saw that HM said that anyone could take the next turn - hope I didn't take anyones rightful turn!?
If OK, my first clue is that the last rank this person held was that of an SS-Oberführer.

Re: SS ID Quiz
Yes, it sure is - the complete picture shows Dietl, Terboven and Otte letting loose - there are more photo's in the series and they can be seen in Mike Millers Gauleiter, vol. 3, under Terboven.
