1 Sohn (1922-?), 1 Tochter (* 1925) [son marked as dead, possibly gefallen]
Hans-Hartmann Poel was killed in action as a Leutnant zur See on a U-Boot on 21.10.1942.
Maria Kraus, geb. Poel, died in 2008. She was married to pianist Detlef Kraus.

According to a 29.07.1944 Vortragsnotiz proposing Gerhard Poel for command of TÜP Elsenborn, he was Kommandant of Smolensk until 15.09.1943, and then Kommandant of Gomel from 16.09.1943 to 03.10.1943. This document has him as Kommandant of OFK 400 from 04.10.1943. In his Dienstlaufbahn, the Beauftragung m.d.W.d.G. of TÜP Elsenborn was stricken as "nicht wirksam" and replaced with the Ernennung to Kommandant of Brünn. His 04.11.1944 Beurteilung from HGr. Mitte also has the Gomel assignment.

Hello Dave
Funny, his assignment as Kdt. v. Gomel is mentioned in none of his 2 Karteikarten (in R891), where they read :
Kdt. v. Witebsk in one from 10.2.42 and in the other from 10.2.43 (so, 42 or 43 ?)
Then Kdt. v. Smolensk from 5.11.42 (from 42 ok ? )
Then Kdt. d. OFKdtr. 400 from 20.11.43 (this contradicts Your 4.10.43.....)
Can You pls. bring some order to the above different dates (I wonder why Your data is so different from those in his 2 Karteikarten........)
Thanks, Rossano

Thanks
Dave I didn´t mean to doubt Your data + docs.
My aim was rather to better understand whether Your data+docs were more reliable than his Karteikarten, and if they are then why his Karteikarten report different data and are (probably) partially wrong
