Value of k98 bayonet

#1

Post by Wrigglesmint » 18 Sep 2021, 05:23

Hi all folks, relatively new collector here. I was thinking about getting this 44 cof bayonet (1944 carl eickhorn) for the k98. The finish seems great and the red grips are a beauty, but the scabbard is mismatched (42 cof), seems to be painted and is missing the throat screw. I was quoted $190 for this. Is it worth it at this price? I know generally mismatched examples are around $80-$150 but I’m not sure if the good looking bluing is worth the extra money. Could anybody help?

Alright Mark thanks for the info! Could I also check if I’m right to say that riveted non matching examples on the other hand would command much higher prices too?
