New Finds
Volkssturm-Bataillon 27/84
https://www.forum-der-wehrmacht.de/inde ... lon-27-84/
Volkssturm-Bataillon Kalau vom Hofe [Kreis Oels, Reichsgau Niederschlesien]
The name Volkssturm Battalion Kalau vom Hofe is not historically secure and only serves to distinguish other Volkssturm units in the area at the time mentioned above.
The Rittmeister Eberhard Kalau vom Hofe was the head of the community and the last German mayor of the community Schwierse in the district of Oels / Silesia. At that time there was also a manor "Mittel" in the community, to which a manor owner Kalau vom Hofe is also mentioned: http: // www .gca.ch / ortschaften_… oels / schwierse / index.html
From his public office (in connection with a party membership / Ortgsruppenführer? And officer rank) the Rittmeister probably also became the leader of the VS battalion.

Re: An extensive list of Volkssturm-Bataillons?
The Volkssturm and the city of Cottbus
The region around Cottbus now had a decisive strategic relevance: in addition to its importance as a traffic junction, it was the last cornerstone of the defense of the troops east of Berlin to the south. Larger units were then relocated to the Cottbus area, especially to the villages of Dissenchen and Merzdorf, after two tank attacks took place near Kahren. In the city of Cottbus itself, which had been declared a „Festung“, no additional units were stationed. Therefore, the Festungskommandant of Cottbus, Generalleutnant Ralf Sodann, reported on the morning of April 19 that he could not defend the city without regular troops. He had only five poorly armed "Volkssturm-Bataillones at his disposal, which consisted mainly of (probably around 800) Hitler Youths and old men.

Volkssturms des Kreises Posen.
Some of the men drafted into the Volkssturm on January 17 and 18 were transported away in a north-easterly direction and were deployed
between Hohensalza and Thorn. The bulk of the Volkssturm-Bataillones, however, were moved 160 kilometers to the east via Konin and Warthbrücken (Kolo) to the Kutno area, 50 km north of Lodz, while other parts were deployed 100 kilometers south-east of Posen near Kalisch
and Ostrowo. One of the Volkssturm-Bataillon's that had been transported in the direction of Kutno was deployed at Eichstädt (Dabie) on January 18th and, according to reports from those returning home, "was almost completely wiped out." The towns of Kolo, Turek, 20 km southwest of
Kolo, Konin, Golina and Wreschen were involved in heavy fighting.
After losing battles between January 22nd and 26th, the Volkssturm-Bataillones deployed at Kalisch and Ostrowo fought over Lissa, 60 km south
from Posen to Glogau by January 29. The men of the Volkssturm, who had been pushed back into the Posen fortress via Konin and Wreschen, had
to retreat to the core plant by February 12 after bitter street fighting with the rest of the occupation, which was completely destroyed by the
heaviest bombing attacks On February 23rd Posen fell into the hands of the enemy. Numerous members of the Volkssturm in the Poznan District
have been missing since those battles.

Volkssturm Altenmarkt
Der Volkssturm soll später bewaffnet werden. Zum Volkssturm-Bataillon Altenmarkt gehören die Komp. Altenmarkt (mit 5 Zügen),
St. Georgen/Stein, Truchtlaching/Seebruck, Muna und am Anfang als 5. Kp.

Re: An extensive list of Volkssturm-Bataillons?

Volkssturm-Bataillon Stünke or " Panzerjagdbataillon Stünke "
The local group leader Müller who was present informed the leader of the Volkssturm battalion from Tschopau, Ulbrich, who in turn informed the
District staff leader informed.
The local group Constantin had a Volkssturm battalion with three companies, of which only the 1st platoon of the 3rd company was partially armed and barracked in a school
After the war, it was not possible to prove whether an order was issued by the local group leader and leader of the
Volkssturm-Bataillon Soltau-Ost to “shoot fugitive concentration camp prisoners” and “shoot all wandering prisoners without further ado”.
The HJ Academy for Youth Leadership in Braunschweig was a central training location for the management staff. Late March / early April 1945
the around 40 participants and teachers of the last course were assigned to the Volkssturm. As a member of the III. They formed a contingent
its own Hitler Youth battalion, the command of which was taken over by the head of the academy, HJ-Oberbannführer Heinrich Stünke
and which subsequently operated as the "Bataillon Stünke" or "Panzerjagdbataillon Stünke". Stünke appointed teachers to lead the three companies of the academy, including the Hitler Youth leader Ulrich Giersberg, to platoon and group leaders the course participants.
It was based on the same model A second HJ battalion was set up from some of the academy members under the leadership of the Braunschweig HJBannführer Zachau. The teams of the two associations were recruited from the local members of the Hitler Youth and the apprentices from the Volkswagen workshop in Braunschweig. The Giersberg company was formed on April 3rd. The company commander sent
two of the 150 Hitler Youths assigned Third immediately back home. The remaining 50 boys were combined into a "tank hunting group", each subordinate to two academy members as group leaders and deputies, and armed with a light machine gun.
The district leader and Trummler were also responsible for the no less bloody suppression of the attempted coup in Burghausen.
There was unrest among the workers of the Wackerwerke because the rumor was circulating that the plant was about to be blown up.
That is why a number of factory employees - all of them old opponents of the regime - decided after the radio news
to become active in the Bavarian Freedom Campaign. They broke open the arsenal of the Volkssturm battalion of the plant and armed
themselves. Workers who were known as National Socialists were arrested, including the local group leader and the leader of the Volkssturm battalion.
