I ordered a copy about 5-6 weeks ago and it arrived a week later, but I didn't order from FPP. Can't remember where I got mine, but I think it was Book Depository or something similar.

I ordered this back in January, I’ve sent a couple follow ups to the FPP website but have not heard anything. Pretty lame that someone that ordered three weeks ago already has their copy. Hopefully it’s just pandemic-related disorganization. Anyone had any luck getting any response from FPP with updates on when we can expect shipments?
Sent several inquiries and have received nothing. I agree very bad customer service they that can't even respond to inquiries.

Isn't FPP a one-man-band operation, and that band is David Irving?

Yeah, I think is most likely correct. I actually just got an email saying the package was being prepared for shipment, so I’m glad about that. I’m sure he’s just backlogged and getting to them as he can (maybe not in chronological order, but I have every faith he’ll get to them all). Can’t wait to get my copy. The shipments are coming from FL, which I understand is Mr. Irving’s base of operations nowadays. He takes a real personal interest in his readers; he once called me after ordering a ticket to see him speak, and needless to say I was quite shocked (and pleasantly surprised) to see him take such a personal interest in his readership.

I think you'll find it's probably more him checking on the legitimacy of his readers/lecture audience than his personal interest in you. Given his views and his past history, he has to be very careful of his clientele.

Yes, I agree. But still, it was pretty cool to speak to him personally. I still truly think he cares about his readership. I don’t portend or claim he took a personal interest in me just cuz I ordered a ticket to see him speak; he was definitely feeling me out. But again, the fact that he did it personally (as opposed to an assistant or lackey) was neat in my book.

Since I unsubscribed to this topic (and others) - otherwise my Inbox gets full - all these copies must have arrived with its purchasers but.... no reviews!

Steve,

for what it is worth, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is not often I start a non-fiction book and actually read it to the end. With this I did. I like David Irving's writing style; he is never less than entertaining. Some of the earlier diary stuff was a bit of a slog but it all adds to the bigger picture. I only wish it did not end with the outbreak of war in 1939 and very much hope the second volume is forthcoming in the not too distant future.

Regards
Glenn

I had the opportunity to attend a Max Show lecture by him back in the late 90s, before his troubles I suppose. He was an engaging speaker and afterwards offered research source locations for my police reaearch after we discussed the successful "police" intercepts by the British and the failure of them to crack the Gestapo transmissions.

Anyone know when the next volume is coming out? I’m curious to know Irving’s take on the war years.

To @Al_Smythe and others, i quote wikipedia:
The English court found that Irving was an active Holocaust denier, antisemite and racist, who "for his own ideological reasons persistently and deliberately misrepresented and manipulated historical evidence". In addition, the court found that Irving's books had distorted the history of Hitler's role in the Holocaust to depict Hitler in a favourable light.

I thought the anecdote about Lina Heydrich and the exploding matches was fantastic.

I can just imagine the scene with HH getting flustered and making a mental note to avoid her as much as possible!

Want to read this but feel guilty purchasing, people seem to say it is interesting read though.

A post from Leprechaun was removed by this moderator. Please do not link to third party sites offering books to read or download free. David Irving offers several of his works to read for free at his own website but forbids them to be uploaded to other sites, so this looks like it is a legal issue on copywrite that this site needs to avoid.
