When Silesians came to Texas in 1854, they even named their first town Panna Maria (Lady Mary).

One of Silesian-Texans speaks about the establishment of Panna Maria (in English):

There are words which carry the presage of defeat. Defence is such a word. What is the result of an even victorious defence? The next attempt of imposing it to that weaker, defender. The attacker, despite temporary setback, feels the master of situation.

Peter, I've got 1905 German census data here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Prussia

Now, what territories should I compare for 1905 and 1910? Indeed, I certainly want to find out just how falsified the 1910 German census actually was!

Thanks!

Anyway, I've got a question about Upper Silesia: Could it be viewed as a Polish (formerly split German-Polish, and before that German) version of the Donbass? Heavily industrial, full of natural resources (especially coal), strong localist and autonomist sentiments, separatist uprisings (Korfanty's rebellion, et cetera), et cetera.

Although Polish rights to Upper Silesia aren't contested by anyone.

Not right now, of course, but they were until 1990, no? That's when Germany definitely--with no qualifications or reservations--accepted the post-1945 German-Polish border, if I recall correctly.

One can say that Germany claimed all of Upper Silesia until World War II and claimed western Upper Silesia until 1990.
