Thanks for this review of Arthur Brand's "Hitler's Horses" -- I've had this book in my library for a year or so but not gotten around to reading it yet. You've enticed me!

Hello Br, it’s not particularly well-written. The author chose to tell the story as a series of conversations between the various individuals involved. Nevertheless, NS Germany, Cold War Germany, Gudrun Himmler - all the elements are there. Without giving anything away, the missing statues were virtually hiding in plain site for decades.

I agree. I'm glad the book exists as the content is definitely interesting, but I found his writing style to be a quite glib and sensationalist in places.

I agree. I'm glad the book exists as the content is definitely interesting, but I found his writing style to be a quite glib and sensationalist in places.

You're both correct. I've read it, as well, and while pretty interesting, it was somewhat written in the style of a thriller...then sort of petered out towards the end.

Thank you Hans for the links. I suspect the ideal location will be the “Deutsches Historisches Museum” in Berlin. If you hear something about exhibiting them, that would be much appreciated information.
