Hello

A new one from E-Bay.de, the caption say: "General Rommel Eisenbahn Ferngeschütz Feuerstellung bei Marquise 1944"

I dont think it is Rommel, any opinions? Rommel did not wear spurs, did he?

Kurt

It is not Rommel, that's for sure.

Hi guys,
for a book I'm looking for a good photo showing Rommel, Marcks and Von Schlieben during one of Rommel's visits.
I'm having trouble finding one that suits my needs and won't break the bank. Perhaps some of the members here have some in their own personal collection they'd be interested in sharing (will pay if needed)

This one would be my first choice, but I only seem to be able to find a good copy through Getty
Image
Suggestions of other photos showing these three men and/or leads where to find them would be very much appreciated!

Niels

Here you have, Niels.

I got one more, but von Schlieben is partially hidden.

Hello Graveland, thanks for the help.

Just to be clear: does this one come from your own collection or is it just a copy you downloaded somewhere?
The reason for asking is that the good quality images online all seem to directly originate from Getty (the spec under Von Schlieben's eye suggests this one does too). Getty is not a party you want to come after you (legitimate or not). I can basically finance a short study trip from the money Getty charges, which is why I'm looking for an alternative source (or an alternative image)

Hi Niels,

It is just a copy I downloaded somewhere, although I identified to Marcks and von Schlieben long time ago.

Second photo - Alfred Gause(left), Rommel and I'd say Generalleutnant Friedrich FÜRST(right).

Text: "Generalfeldmarschall Rommel inspects the fortification works on the Atlantic. The Generalfeldmarschall is personally convinced of the safety and certainty of the defense works".

Hello

Thanks for the translation :-)

Any one for the ID of officers and maybe the location?

When the date of the PK photo is 15 january 1944, it must be an inspection prior to that date - and that narrows it down a bit.

In december 1943 Rommel was in Denmark, in the first days of january 1944 he was in Holland, Belgium and Northern France.

Kurt

Hello

21-12-1943 Rommel was in Oostende and Wenduine, and Gerke, Meise and Gause was also present.

Could the general at the left side of the photo be Generalleutnant Fürst - Kdr. 171. R.D.?

I doubt between Fürst or Reichert, Kurt, for this reason I have not answered your question.
