Hello,

To add more confusion (sorry). The KIA in Benouville on June 6th were members of
5./Pz.Gren.Rgt.192
6./Pz.Gren.Rgt.192
1./Pz.Jg.Komp.716
according to german KIA sources.

/Christoph
Those would be the Marder I crew presumably?

Sorry Christoph, but could you give the name of members from 1./Pz.Jg.Kp.716 (Sf), just for be able to decorate my table of the establishment of the unit. The personnel of Pz.Gr.Rgt.192 correspond in part to those killed in the bell tower of the church.

The new Second World War exhibition in the Imperial War Museum has this photograph and caption. The museum focuses on the human experience but at the expense of any tactical detail.

Yes, it is a policy of attractiveness implemented by large museums (such as the Caen Memorial), to the detriment of objectivity but above all the quality of the tactical and operational framework.

I like my museums full of stuff with its tactical context :) However, the Imperial War Musuem and the Caen Memorial are trying to do something different. They are telling the wider story of WW2 in its social and political context. Neither musem could go into tactical detail covering the whole war. (Though the Caen Memorial could do with making more of its site on Richter's HQ. It ought to be the place to tell the story of the Battle for Caen).

Arguably it leaves space for musuems such as Pegasus Bridge and Merville Battery to tell the tactical story. (I haventlo seen the Romer image in Pegasus Bridge, which lacks much from the German side. Merville Battery is more balanced.
