Hi all.
Great photo Uncle. Very early Barber Greene trencher circa 1936 or so and possibly an early 44C type machine

Hi all.
That Barber Greene is probably one of a number the US Army engineers were using shortly after D-Day to trench water and POL lines in France. I'd guess it was captured during the Mortain counter offensive as there were several on the Carentan peninsula at the time, like this one:

I'd love to know the back story of this vehicle. It's a 1935 Chevy Master Deluxe with what looks like possibly Norwegian licence plates and a fellow in the back wearing a Tommy helmet. Maybe this is one of those Canadian built Chevrolets that were exported to the English market and ended up with British Forces, perhaps as a staff car before it was captured. I don't know but it's fun to speculate! :D

Hi Max,
A very interesting photo, well found.
However, as a lefthand drive I would doubt that it had seen British service, perhaps a local civilian owner?
Happy New Year,
Kerry.

Hi Kerry,
You may well be right. What gave me the idea was this British ad for a '34 Canadian import. I was under the impression that these were LHD but a closer look at this rendering seems to indicate otherwise. In any case following the Occam's Razor Principle your explanation makes more sense.

Hi Max, hi Kerry,

to know more about the this car I was searching for the license number. The letter "D" stands for the former county Hedmark in Norway, bordering Trøndelag to the north, Oppland to the west, Akershus to the south, and Sweden to the east. The county administration was in Hamar. (source: wikipedia).

Best regards and a happy, healthy and successful New Year!

Bert

Here is newly captured top of the line 1939 Chrysler Custom Imperial with a Feldpostnummer Plate. It's going to make a nice staff car for some lucky senior officer.

The photo below shows another view of the Steyr 220 seen in the background above. The plate clearly shows FPN 35564, The FPN of the unit that captured these vehicles, which according to https://www.germanstamps.net/feldpost-number-database/ was assigned to Stab Artillerie-Fuhrer 106 during 1940, which seems a likely period when these cars were captured.
