Dude, it looks great and I've been impressed by your posts, but did you have to write it in French of all things?AETIUS 1980 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2022, 15:04Hello,

Good morning, yes only in French. Maybe disturbing for English speakers and I'm sorry for it.
Anyway, thank you for your reply.

I can only hope it is good enough to generate interest in an English-language edition such as for many of the Heimdal. I may wait a few years, but suspect I will eventually need to add it to the collection. If you do a similar one on 91. Luftland or 77. Infanterie, I will certainly get them as those were my father's main opposition in June and July.AETIUS 1980 wrote: ↑03 Jan 2022, 12:57Good morning, yes only in French. Only the future will tell you, and in case of disappointment, you will have to participate in a new edition. But unlike the publisher cited, I am not in the same vein. You should know that unlike this one, I did all this research between my operational deployment or constraints related to services. Duty is duty.
So good luck with this book.
Best regards

Congratulations Aetius. I hope it will be a success. Maybe you could post some sample pages? A cover does not tell your buyers much about the contents.
@Richard, is German a problem for you too? There is a German 91.Luftlande book and a 77.I.D. book should follow that one.

I can puzzle through German, but French is Greek to me.jpz4 wrote: ↑04 Jan 2022, 05:09Congratulations Aetius. I hope it will be a success. Maybe you could post some sample pages? A cover does not tell your buyers much about the contents.

Re: History book of 716.Inf.Div on june 5th 1944.
Your book arrived and I am working my way slowly through its contents. At 650 large-sized pages of closely-typed text, it is a mighty tome. The maps are of excellent quality and the contents are very well organised. It is evident that for those who read French better than they read German (certainly true in my own case), your book provides an excellent alternative to the task of wading through the 716 ID documents that survive and which are accessible via the BA-MA and other sources. In short, it is a great achievement and you deserve to be very proud of it. The book is not cheap, but I am very pleased to have a copy and I would recommend it as an essential item in the library of anybody who has a serious interest in the Normandy campaign. Even if one does not read French very well, the sheer quantity of data and illustrations, and the way in which material is organised and presented, would make it relatively straightforward to extract great value from the book's contents.
So, when can we expect to see the volume that covers D-Day and the events of June and early July 1944?!

Re: History book of 716.Inf.Div on june 5th 1944.
Aetius,
I've been watching from the sidelines as you got closer to publishing your book. Though I winced when I realised that the price was going to be 123 Euros (including postage)
However, I shall take Simon's recommendation and open my wallet!
Regards
Artee

Re: History book of 716.Inf.Div on june 5th 1944.
Good morning,
First at all, sorry for this news. These are not the prices in France and I didn't expect to see postage. The problem for individuals when they try to share their academic work is to find a publisher without financial repercussions. So really sorry.
Low comfort but which I think is important to quote again, it's the first more than positive impression of this work by Simon TREW. I think his keen eye can surely reduce your fears of hard-earned money evaporating into mediocre work. I would therefore be curious to discuss with you when you have the opportunity to obtain this book.
And thanks again for the info.
Regards
AETIUS

Re: History book of 716.Inf.Div on june 5th 1944.
I have now received my copy of “716. Infanterie Division au 5 Juin 1944. A la veille de l’orage”
This is not a book review by me. It will take weeks to work through this compendium of information.
However, my first impressions, having spent just a few hours looking at it are…
Magnifique! Extraordinaire!
I concur with Simon’s comments above. This book is the clearly culmination of years of research. From my initial perusal, the author has used German, French & British sources to put it together (including some intelligent input from this forum). It is packed with tables, maps & illustrations.
The text is indeed in French – obviously not a handicap for someone fluent in French! Nevertheless, for us mono-lingual people, the content is historic & technical information - thus it is fairly easy to decipher.
To use a cliché, this book is a must buy for anybody who is serious about studying the events of 06Jun44.
