Tell me about my German badges

Post by P.08 » 17 Jan 2022 04:29

A few of these I got from my uncle who was in the artillery in WWII. A few I bought long ago when I collected German items.
The first three were given to me by my uncle.
First up bullion Heer eagle

SS eagle and skull from cap

Hello P.08 ;

All these items look good to me.
Hauptman tabs I think these may be reproductions ?
Not reproduction.
Totenkopf off a collar tab ?
Skull for Panzer collar patches.

A nice Tank Assault Badge example, and Bevo SS Insignia.

Thanks for the reply, I had someone tell me on another collector forum that the tank badge was a fake. Good to know the collar tabs are real.

I have my doubts on that PAB. The hardware is definitely different to what they used to use but the details on the front also look little 'off'. Could be original piece mis-stamped with changed hardware. I like the rest however :)

The reflections and shine of the P.08 photograph can cause confusion giving even a plastic appearance, or falsehood.
But my comparisons with others badges from the same manufacturer were positive.

Another tank badge by Frank & Reif, Stuttgart.

I am going to take some better pics of the tank badge. Those were taken with my iPhone.

It would take a lot to convince me the hardware difference is just the result of poor photography. I see two distinctively different set-ups here.

Here's the only other one I found with similar set-up. Needless to say, the opinions are not favorable: https://www.passionmilitaria.com/t11366 ... identifier

Verso of the badge from the link above against the other two. Changed hardware on a original badge? Variant set-up? Complete fake?

the SS insignia is superb. the PAB is a fake as is the Spange, which is a Floch reproduction.
