Thanks for the help!

It looks like it with large headlights, but not quite. But the trail is interesting, I will look in that direction.

The tactical symbol and the (possible) unit emblem are mysteries to me. Writing on the reverse indicates that the soldiers are from Luftnachrichten-Regt. 31, but that hasn't helped me so far. Thanks in advance for any clues.

German vehicles in The Netherlands. First photo shows several trucks in Dordrecht. Marked with letter 'W' in white and some with a white rectangle on top of it. Second photo shows a Citroen near 'De Beer', also with the letter 'W' and text bod (bodenständig?).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Rogier

Hi Rogier, I do not know what unit had these "W" emblems.
Maybe I come across any clue in resistance documents.
Do you have a year these photo's were taken? (I suppose not...)
As you know the 719 I.D. was stationed in the KVA Dordrecht but also the 82 I.D. and other divisions (even AOK15 had it's HQ in the Merwestein park).
It all depends on the time the pictures were taken, Marine and Luftwaffe are ruled out (WH numberplate on the car).

In resistance documents (from NIOD) I found one mention of the W and Bod. that was seen on a bicycle in Rotterdam ( on 5/11/43/44?).
Greetings Jack.

Edit; Also seen in Puttershoek, Zeist and Leiden.
The document is not very clear but it could have something to do with a Festungsstab (Festungs Pioniere), In Dordrecht (in the area of the Bellevuestraat) the Festungspioniere had their quarters.
If this is correct, the picture of the Citroen on "De Beer" is very well possible (The Beer was one of the heaviest fortified parts of the Atlantikwall).

Hi Jack,

thank you very much for your reaction.

The photo in Dordrecht is given as in 1942, 1943 or 1944. This may or may not be correct.
Given the use of camouflage patterns I would date it 1943 or later as Panzergrau was the standard livery before 1943.

82 I.D. can be safely excluded as their emblem was completely different (also confirmed by photos taken in The Netherlands) and that division moved to Russia in 1942.

719 I.D. also had a different emblem (sitting hare or rabbit) but so far I have not seen any photographic confirmation.

Are the resistance documents you are referring to available online? They seem to provide valuable leads.

Kind regards,
Rogier

Thanks! Quite possible because the airport of Ploujean is 3,5 km away.
I would like to know more about the markings and the type of car.
Could it be that?

What about the "A"?

Regards.

Rogier, The documents are not online.
The NIOD does not want that, they prefer the people coming over to Amsterdam.
When we have a "NIOD" day we have to promise not to publicise on the www.

There are pictures of the white rabbit on cars in Dordrecht.
Sadly i do not have those but a friend showed me some of them.

Hi, Please can you help me to identify this Whermacht symbol painted in white on this Staff (?) car. The photo was taken in June-July 1940 near Châteauroux (central France). Thank you. Phil.

If you mean the elongated "box" on the front left mudguard that is the tactical sign for a Signals Company.

Hello Gentlemen !

Need help to identifying these 4 insignias.

All pictures are dated from mid-1944 to end war, and think from "Eastfront" & germany.

All are from Heer & Luftwaffe (ground unit).

Ps : the picture n°3, maybe we can see a vulture holding something in his claws

Many thanks for your help !
Egon
