It could also be the type ABF 3. The type ABFD is the variant with the diesel engine (D = Diesel).
Maybe there are visible the three words on the bonnet: Renault - Huile - lourde, the mark for a vehicle with a diesel engine.
Here the types and the years of production:
1934: ABF
1935: ABF 2
1936: ABFD
1938: ABF 3 and ABFD 3
The type AEMD has the LWB bus chassis.

Here is a Chart from http://lesrenaultdepapier.fr/camions1.htm showing some general specs of the ABF and ABFD. As Bert noted the Moteur a Huile Lourde indicates the diesel ABFD. Good eyes, Bert, but to be honest I can't see anything there.

I have to admit I hate Renault. Their truck range is too big and I'll never be able to sort all these models, submodels and variants, most of them with confusing designations for even more fun.
Thalkig about the particular suspect here, in Renault archives there is also ABFE integral van (1935) and I have no idea is this chassis or body index, or combination of both. There is also AFB "gasogene a bois" (1936) which is simply "ABF" but, if following the Renault system, it must be ABFH. Etc, etc.
There is also an interesting difference in one decorative detail of these ABFs but again I have no idea is this ID for something or not (for example petrol/diesel engine, etc.) or the "sudden strip end" (or start?) is simply new model year change to simplify the production.
The straight bumper still reamains mistery, though, I cannot find single other ABF with such.

thanks a lot for Your reply. You are totally right, the sytem of Renault for the designation of the different models, submodels and variants is very< complicated. But according to the difference between "essence" and "huile lourde" the designation is discernible. Here some examples:
ZF6AC - ZF6DC; YFAC1 - YFDC1; T14AC1 - T14DC1; VT6AC - VT6DC; YZAE - YZDE; ABF - ABFD; ADT - ADTD; AGK - AGKD. The "D" is the mark for a diesel engine. The same with the models, which had only a diesel engine like the heavy trucks type AFKD, AGLD, AGOD.
