Julius Schaub signed picture. Who are these notables?

#1

Post by Jelle M. » 27 Jul 2022, 18:42

Hi guys,

managed to add this picture with Julius Schaub autograph to my collection.
Can somebody identify the people beside Schaub and Hitler on the picture?
I think i recognize Albert Forster on the front row.
Anybody has a clue about the event? Pic is dated on the reverse.

Thanks

Jelle

SA leader next to AH is Heinrich Schöne, 2nd from right in black uniform is Wilhelm Huth. You are right with Albert Forster.
Next to him towards Huth could be Ferdinand Großherr, but I am not sure.

A very nice photo, autographed by Julius Schaub, who is the person at the far right, seated just behind Hitler, wearing the black SS-Brigadeführer rank which he held at the date of this photo, and also wearing the Coburg Badge. Albert Forster is the third person to Hitler's right, looking up and wearing the black SS-Gruppenführer rank which he held at that time. Interestingly, while Schaub, Schöne and Forster all wear the large Golden Party Badge, Hitler is not wearing it at this event!

100% Großherr, Michal. Well-spotted.

Do you guys think the person standing next to Schaub could be Gauleiter Martin Mutschmann?

Thanks for the feedback all.

"Do you guys think the person standing next to Schaub could be Gauleiter Martin Mutschmann?"

No -- I think Mutschmann is at the very end of the first row.

Not exactly, but according to press reports AH left Elbing/Elbląg early in the morning on the 4th and motorcade drove to Königsberg. After visiting several outdoor places he arrived at Gauleiter's Koch house for a short rest.
In the afternoon he drove to Königsberg Townhall (Stadthalle) where gave a speech. In the evening he was enjoing The Flying Dutchman in the Stadttheater.

This place looks less than average, some makeshift arrangements, but had numbered chairs...

Curiously Koch is not in the photo ?

The fact that there is an empty chair next to Hitler leads me to believe that Koch is at a podium probably getting ready to introduce Hitler.

"The fact that there is an empty chair next to Hitler leads me to believe that Koch is at a podium probably getting ready to introduce Hitler."

A great observation, Mark; I completely agree. And the person sitting at Hitler's right hand -- SA-Gruppenführer Heinrich Schöene -- was the Chief of SA Group Tannenberg, located in Königsberg,

Schöene was an SA-Obergruppenführer.

And of course Grossherr was Koch's Deputy Gauleiter so it all makes sense as to who is in the line up.
