Hello all. I am new here. I got until page 67 so far. Somewhere in 2013 someone claimed to be LGG's grandson. He claimed he would submit pics of here from (I believe) 1940 and some other pics of her belongings at that time. But he would ask her for her permission first. He never posted again (as far as I can see). Could it not be that he was telling the truth but that his grandmother did forbid him to post anymore? Also he mentioned that she was born in 1925. That would make her 97 years old now. It is possible she is still alive because he also mentioned that only after her death he would submit more info to anyone who would be interested? Has anyone ever heard from him again? And is it not possible to send him a personal message through this site?
Welcome Gradus,
It is good to see someone new here. I hope you read ALL of the pages.
Approximately 0.3% or 3 in 1000 live to reach 97.
Was she civilian or military?
Was she retained by the Americans or turned over to the Russians?
What nationality was she?
Was her homeland under Russian control now?
If she was from Sudetenland, she was now homeless, where would she have to go?
Did she have any family to return to for help?
If she was military and not from Germany, (Holland etc...) could she return home without facing some retaliation?
Did she survive her time in an American POW camp? Some died, did she?
Did she survive her time in a Russian POW camp? Many died, did she?
The first years after the war were harsh. Many died, did she?
The average life span after the war in Europe was shorter, how long did she live to be? 26? 97?
Many women were never married after the war. Was she?
Did she have any family?
If she survived and had children, the odds are she is no longer alive and possibly none her children either.
When I read a post where someone claims to know who the woman is/was but cannot tell anything reminds me of children. I know something you don't know. I know a secret, but I can't or won't tell you.
If they really have another picture post it. There is already film footage of the woman and one more picture will not compromise her identity.
Unless it some type of identity card which no one has and may not exist. At this point in time if someone came forward with one, I would not believe it unless it was extensively examined.
If someone had a picture of this woman from WW2, the chances of someone recognizing her are just about 0 if she were still alive.
So, posting their picture should not be a problem unless they have no picture.
We know what she looked like.
Here is a cleaned-up picture of the woman by stello post#390

As I said before I don't think the woman or anyone that knew her ever saw the film footage.
