SS-Kampfgruppe Hirthes was in that korps together with Grossdeutschland, of which divisional elements was the ss kampfgruppe formed?
Was this korps situated in East-Prussia at the time? if not where was it exact location?

On 16.9. corps launched Operation Cäsar in the area SW of Riga, with the main objective to relieve RA's pressure on HG Nord.

XXIX.Pz.Korps (Gen.d.Pztr. von Saucken) formed two attacking groups from:

Pz.Gren.Div. "Großdeutschland" (Gen.d.Pztr von Manteuffel) with attached armored group from 5.Pz.Div. - 25 Pz.IV, 87 Pz.V and Pz.VI, 16 Stug, 9 Pak (sfl.)
4.Pz.Div. (Gen.Maj. Betzel) with attached armored group from 12.Pz.Div. - 93 Pz.IV and Pz.V, 10 Pz.Jg.IV, 18 Pak (sfl.)
7.Pz.Div. (Gen.Maj. Mauß) - 47 Pz.IV and Pz.V, 5 Stug, 13 Pak (sfl.)

SS-Gruppe Hierthes (SS-Staf. Heino Hierthes) was formed from 1 infantry (lett.) and 1 light artillery battalion

The information comes from Gerd Niepold: Panzeroperationen "Doppelkopf" und "Cäsar". Sommer '44.

While searching for more info on Hierthes, I' ve managed to find this excellent website http://www.yogysoft.de/il2/kurland/LL_44.htm
