The BAMA+NARA combination gives the feeling we are living a true revolution in research. It's all for the better!

T311 army groups - 305 reels, divided into 344 reels and part-reels, sampling reel 1 these have PDF downloads
https://catalog.archives.gov/search?q=* ... Sort%20asc
Just great!

And somewhat perfect coordination with BAMA, where RH19 Heeresgruppen is just being added online these months :)
T311 is quite small at 305 reels, so it was likely easy to tick off. This weekend's additions amount to nearly 1,000 reels, for the week (!) the uploads reached 3,500 reels and for the year they are at about 4,400 reels. Let's see if there are more series to come in the next week...

In terms of spotting updates, a keyword search will show increases; you can then sort the results by NARA identifier - these are in order of uploading, so whatever is uploaded most recently will then be at the end of the results. The sequence for the latest uploads is T354, T77, T311, T175.

Has anybody already downloaded T77 R943 and could provide a downloadlink? -.-

I am just too stupid to understand Uli's manual it seems -.-

Am I right that R943 was the only roll "Personalveränderungen" that was missing untill now? Or are there some for 1944/45 as well somewhere?

thanks,
Alexander

I have tried to sum up everything regarding the NARA RG 242 uploads, in a way that can be updated and reposted every time there is a newly uploaded series. Future reposts would start by noting the new series in bold.

NARA RG 242 is being rapidly digitised. So far 7 series and 4,349 microfilm reels have been uploaded from RG 242:
T77 Records of the Headquarters of the German Armed Forces High Command (1,687 reels)
T84 Various German Records (489 microfilm reels)
T175 Records of the Reich Leader of the Schutzstaffel (SS) and Chief of the German Police (678 microfilm reels)
T178 Fragmentary Records of Various Reich Ministries and Offices (28 microfilm reels)
T311 Records of German Field Commands, Army Groups (305 microfilm reels)
T354 Various Schutzstaffel (SS) Records, Einwandererzentralstelle, Waffen-SS, and SS-Oberabschnitte (799 microfilm reels)
T501 Records of Rear Areas, Occupied Territories, and Others (363 microfilm reels)

Links for each series are embedded on this page, under 'USA' at the top:
http://holocaustcontroversies.blogspot. ... s-and.html

1. Each series link opens up results that are listed from reel 1 to the end. Some reels are split into parts 1 and 2 if they are over 1000 or 1500 frames, depending on the series. All series appear to be complete when browsed from reels 1 to the end. NARA only uploads entire series in one go.

2. Most series can be downloaded as PDFs of reels or part-reels by looking on the description page for a reel under the main image and preview strip for 'documents'. Click on the PDF icon and a download button appears under the main image, click on the download button, it will open in a new tab to an Amazon Cloud folder.

3. Some series have not been uploaded with PDFs, this applies to T77 and T178 for the time being. You can however use a download manager like DownThemAll! in Firefox (hat-tip, Mori) or a curl command, to download all jpgs from the reel. This may take 20-30 minutes per reel. Instructions for the curl command for Windows are spelled out here by Ulrich: viewtopic.php?p=2426060#p2426060

4. New series can be spotted with keyword searches in the overall NARA catalog. For most RG 242 captured German records series, a good choice is 'Heeresgruppe', as this will appear in military and civilian/SS records at various levels, down to divisional level (T315) for sure. The current number of hits for 'archival descriptions with digital objects' (= uploaded reels and part-reels) within RG 242 for 'Heeresgruppe' is 2,393.

5. RG 242 as a whole has more than 10,000 digitised files or reels, only 10,000 will be displayed if you sort through the master search for RG 242. Keyword searches with less than 10,000 results can be sorted by 'National Archives Identifier' into the order they were uploaded.

6. The order and approximate dates of uploading for the microfilm series = T178, T501 (early 2022), T84 (July 2022), T354, T77, T311, T175 (August 2022).

7. 7 of the 38 main series microfilmed at Alexandria, VA have been uploaded so far. The approximate number of microfilm reels within RG 242 is as follows:
Alexandria, VA, military - 10,507 reels (uploaded: T77, T311, T501 = 2,355 reels)
Alexandria, VA, civilian - 1,491 reels (uploaded: T84, T178 = 517 reels)
Alexandria, VA, SS/NSDAP - 4,207 reels (uploaded: T175, T354 = 1,477 reels)
Foreign Office - 6,800 reels
Kriegsmarine - 4,317 reels
BDC - 40,667 reels
Other - 3,472 reels (including 1849 German officer personnel file reels, A3356 = BArch PERS 6, not yet uploaded)
See this page for further breakdowns by series
https://www.archives.gov/research/captu ... l#virginia

8. The Mori Index indicates which reels were previously uploaded by reel sharers or sold commercially: https://www.sturmpanzer.com/research/to ... index.aspx
Before the systematic uploading by NARA began, the following reels were available (first number reels, second is previously available):
T-077 OKW 1680 242
T-078 OKH 993 434
T-079 Army Areas 344 38
T-084 Misc Rcds 489 55
T-175 SS & Police 678 101
T-176 Guides 33 1
T-283 Manuals 162 36
T-311 Army Grps 304 180
T-312 Armies 1700 667
T-313 Pz Armies 489 239
T-314 Corps 1669 855
T-315 Divisions 2379 1276
T-354 Waffen-SS 799 159
T-1022 Navy 4317 1343
(T501 and T1021 - the latter is part of RG 549 - were fully available via NARA at the time of these numbers, from July 2022)

Hello gentlemen
like asked by Alexander above, me too would be interested in other Personalveränderungen covering the years 1944/45.
Do You know whether (or when) such rolls are (or will be) available (for free download) ?
By the way, R943 was not missing (I have that since a long time)

(Really) Minor correction: the cut-off was at 1000 frames in earlier series like T501 and T84. They moved it up to 1500 in the August 2020 ones.

You are right, and I have corrected the template accordingly. Thanks!

Hello

I have tried to load the T311 R154 roll via dta in the last few days, but unfortunately this is not possible.
T314 R973 is loaded instead, and I have just tested it. Is there any way to contact the nara and report the error?
regards

Eh, you found a T314 roll! Meaning they are about to be published!

Back to T311 R154, I suppose you tried the direct URL. If that fails...

Hello

The problem is not a wrong link. In the catalogue the roll is correct, but when you click on it to see the preview pictures, instead of T311 you get the roll T314.

the syntx of the url has been checked. this is probably a misupload.

Catalog: https://catalog.archives.gov/search?q=T311&offset=160

when you klick on the link for Number 154 , you get T314 R973. Just tested, its still the same as the days before

Uli
