Finally, post war he was stripped of his teaching credentials but later pardoned by Austrian government. He later taught prehistory and lectured in university, became a director of a museum in Salzburg, a member of UNESCO council of museums, and mourned at the time of his death.

Just a small digression, if you don't mind, von thoma:
I'm surprised that the cover designer failed to delete the markings around the man's face (those that look like the letter "K"). It's a 30-second job in any digital image editor.

For those who didn't know, those are press markings, showing where to crop a photo (what is behind the straight line should be excluded). You'll often find them on various war correspondent and other press images.

Hmmm, interesting. I just thought they were runic symbols signifying Ahnenerbe that they used for the cover.
