Thanks for your image, Bert.

According to this, I think that the shell to the left could be a Pzgr 39/43 and the shell to the right a Sprgr 43....

These are 3,7 cm Panzergranat Patronen, 3,7 cm APHE for 3,7 cm Pak.
Depending on the primer used these could just as well be rounds for the 3,7 cm Kw.K. tank gun.
But the dead give away is actually the piece underneath, which is a carrierbag with 11 rounds which fitted inside a wicker basket.
This carrierbag, "Tragetasche zum kleinen Munitionskorb" was only used for 3,7 cm Pak ammunition.

Thnak you very much for your help, Zünder...

I have never seen this type of container for 3.7cm PaK ammunition before.
I only knew the metal box for 12 shells.

Hi all

According to photo caption, 42cm artillery shells. For the 42cm Gamma-Gerat or for the 42cm M-Gerat ?? :?
Used both howitzers the same ammunition ?

According to Ian Hogg book (German Artillery of WW2), the Gamma Gerat used an 42cm Sprgr Be shell with a weight of 1003kg.
According to Herber Jager book (German Artillery of WW1) the shells of Gamma Gerat had a weight of 1160kg

According to some internet websites, the shells of the M-Gerat had a weight of 810-820kg for the heavy one and a weight of 400kg for the light one, so I assume that both howitzers used different ammunition....

Does somebody any additional information and/or images of the shells used by both howitzers ?

According to french book "Artillerie allemande -les projectiles"

42cm gamma Lggr. shell for the Gamma-Gerat weighed about 930kg
42cm M gr. for the M-Gerat weighed about 800kg
and the 42cm M Hbgr. for the M-Gerat weighed about 400kg

@Sturm:
Post 773: really difficult to say without the back end of those shells, but I think 320 mm could be right.
Post 774: Yes, looks like 42 cm.
Because of the unique shape and 1 drivingband, the right one can only be a 42 cm M-Haubitzgranate, 400 kg.
The left one is more difficult to identify, either a 42 cm Langgranate, 42 cm Minen- Granate or 42 cm Minen-Granate n.A., weight for those was around 800/900 kg, I think the Langgranate was the heaviest of the 3.
They all had a the same shape and one drivingband, the Langgranate was a few cm’s longer.
Post 775: that ballistic cap is a tell tale sign of the French obus de 155 mm mle 1918 FATO (155 FATO)

Thank you very much to both for your answers, DoppZ15 and Zünder

About the 42cm shells, it is not clear to me if the Gamma Mörser and the M-Gerat used the same ammunition... :?

From your information I gather that there were the following types of projectiles:

for the 42cm Gamma Gerat:

42cm Langgranate (Lggr.) about 930kg

for the 42cm M-Gerat:

42cm Minen- Granate (M gr.) about 800kg
42 cm Minen-Granate n.A about 800kg
42 cm M-Haubitzgranate (M Hbgr.) about 400kg.

Here, another image. I think also 42cm Minen- Granate (M gr.), 42cm Minen-Granate n.A or 42cm Langgranate...probably
