The new Obersalzberg Documentation Center opening is postponed once again. I've been waiting to go back for a visit until the new center is open, since I don't live close. I recently sent a letter to the Documentation Office mentioning my opinion that I hope the new displays will focus on the history of the families and farmers that lived over the last several centuries, their way of life, and surviving on the Obersalzberg. I put it this way: "We had Hitler and his cronies only for about 20 years, but the homesteaders, farmers and ranches, and churches for 600 years-how about focusing on the 600 years!"
Not sure they will listen, but I did get a conformation back that they did receive my letter.

Anyway, on to the Berchtesgadener Anzeiger newspaper article on the Center postponement:

While you are there you should keep your eyes open for the bomb craters around the Berghof and Platterhof areas.

Went to the teehaus and found a concrete structure, see the red circle. Anyone know what this is?

I assume you mean that when you visited the former tea house on Mooslahnerkopf you passed this piece of concrete on the way. As it is located quiet far away from the tea house I don't see the connection between those two. I have no idea what it is and I doubt it's a "third reich ruin" at all.

The distance is about 180m. I think it is a German construction. I can see the imprint of planks that were used as formwork. You can find it at a lot of German concrete constructions. only the concrete box on top with the lid is newer.

I walked from the Spornhofweg up trough the forrest, an easy walk for about 10m.

Hi Everyone

I periodically check the google earth phots around the berghof and this is a new one to me. I know its been said part of the driveway is still there and you can see it in some of the photos and images from google earth where you drop down into the terrain

however this one is from someone who went down to the driveway and there are the remains of a wall there as well

i am trying to understand what this exactly is and where it might be from a period photo?

is this the garage?? wall at the end? and the concrete in the garage??

can someone pinpoint if this is the real driveway remains and then what the wall remains are? it doesn't look like just dumped material from when they dumped stuff on the site but an actual wall

Hi All, hope 2023 turns out well for all of us...
just posting an old issue here, about the layout of EB bedroom on the first level of Berghof. usually we have one image of her bedroom corner with the two doors (one from the corridor outside and the other from the shared vestibule between her and AH room). would like to share a few other pictures of a room. Do these pictures belong to the same room. Refer the flooring and the window and door (bathroom) placement. if correct, this would imply that the room net to AH was her Living room, and not a bedroom. would anybody have any comments on this ?
