Stp 090 Lgs Wn 94 Batterie Pardigan

#1

Post by pvv8 » 23 Jan 2023, 19:38

Hi,

Last summer, I visited Stp 090 Lgs Wn 94 Batterie Pardigan at Leucate and Stp 090 Lgs Wn 97 FuMG Leuchtkäfer at Cap Leucate ( Südwall )
I noticed for KVA A, from Cerbère to Leucate, all the names started with "Lgs" or Stp 090 "Lgs"
Does anybody knows for what "Lgs" stands for ?

Thx
Patrick

There are also (besides Lgs) Lgm and Lgn so probably Süd, Mitte and Nord.
Could not find anything on Lg.

The following abbreviations are used
KVA A = Lgs => ?
KVA B = Lgm => ?
KVA C = Lgn => ?
KVA C = Set => Sete
KVA D = Rhl => Rhone ? not sure what the "l" means
KVA E = Mar => Marseille, r = rechts ? : just a guess
KVA E = Mal => Marseille, l = links ? : just a guess
KVA F = Tor => Toulon, r = rechts ? : just a guess
KVA F = Tol => Toulon, l = links ? : just a guess
KVA F = Bor => Bormes-Les Mimosas ?
KVA F = Rap => Saint-Raphael
KVA G = Can => Cannes
KVA G = Ant => Antibes
Taken the above in account, the chances are high that it's a town or a region, in the case of "Lg" it could be "Languedoc" + Süd, Mitte or Nord (see JK )

"Der Südwall (auch Mittelmeerwall genannt) war ein Küstenverteidigungssystem" source https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%BCdwall
I refer also to this French website https://sudwall.superforum.fr/
It can be true that at that time ( German occupation ) the name "Südwall" was not (often) used by the German Army and was more common after the war, to make the difference with the Atlantkwall.
However we are deviating from my above original question :D

I know it's not official but it's nicer to give your opinion directly than only ask the question you know the answer to.
