Feldflasche: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feldflasche

In our basic training in the Bundeswehr, we young recruits still had aluminum canteens, that was in 1978.
Once a week we had to collect splinters from the barracks, and with the splinters we collected we ran around the barracks for an hour.

We shook and shook the split in our canteens until the insides were finally clear again...

German Bundeswehr in the 1970s, an accumulation of senseless nonsense, but experienced it myself... 8O
It's laughable now, but it was good fun for our instructors, those damn assholes loved to torture us "Rotärsche" as much as possible...

A "Rotarsch" in the german army slang is a recruit.

Less than 20,- Euros on a german flea market, sorry...

I own hand-engraved aluminum drinking cups from the First World War, that tell little stories, actually worthless, maybe regionally interesting, but probably nothing more...
They are often small works of art, referred to as so-called "Grabenkunst", unfortunately little appreciated, worthless for most collectors.

Hans1906, In US, we call it trench art and some of it brings big prices. I've seen pieces over $1000. US, and have heard of some bringing much more.
