28 years after World War II there was a War Crimes trial against 4 members of German 57th Police Battalion---a surviors of a massacre of Jews and Partisians in Febuary 1943 in a cowshed in Soligorsk/Salihorsk, Belarus. viewtopic.php?f=38&t=65806&start=15
I think the London Tines Index for 1973/1974 had a brief mention of the Trial..the defendents were found guilty and sentenced to death by firing Squad
ANy other Western Newspaper such as the New York Times have a brief notice of this trial?

1. There were no German-German POWs still being held in the USSR.
2. The 4 men are much more likely to have been Soviet nationals in minor positions.
3. The Times (London) often carried the odd small pieces from Reuters or suchlike that reported such trials. I may have cut it out then but I do not have it now.

It was not the 57th Police Bataillon - it never existed.
You are talking about Schutzmannschafts-Bataillon 57.
It consisted of 80 Germans (of former 1/Pol.Batl. 3) and 300 to 400 Ukrainians, Russians and Belarusians.
Commanded by german SS-Ostuba/Oberstleutnant d.SchP Hans Siegling.

The Times (London) occasionally ran brief stories from Reuters or similar news agencies covering court cases. Even if I did sever it back then, I can't seem to find it anywhere.
