It seems Zelensky is trying to get even more 'free stuff' before he acts out the wet dream of the old cold-war warriors.
Defending your country from an unwarranted attack by your much larger neighbor is now a "wet dream of cold war warriors" ?

Shame on you, M. Kenny.

It was Russia who destroyed the neocon attempt to break-up Syria and topple Assad.
Gosh, well done Russia  https://twitter.com/nedalalamari/status ... 5045979142
Now China is making all the running and the US is completely side-lined.

Even The New York Times is facing reality:

Saudi Arabia and Iran Agree to Restore Ties, in Talks Hosted by China
The deal between regional rivals underlines China’s growing economic and political importance in the Middle East, and what some analysts say is waning American influence. China hosted the talks that led to the breakthrough, highlighting Beijing’s growing role as a global economic and political power, and counterbalance to Washington — particularly in the Middle East, a region that was long shaped by the military and diplomatic involvement of the United States.

Seven years after cutting formal ties, Iran and Saudi Arabia will reopen embassies in each other’s countries within two months, and confirmed their “respect for the sovereignty of states and noninterference in their internal affairs,” they said in a joint statement published by the official Saudi Press Agency. Iran’s state news media also announced the deal.

Yeah, no-one is disputing China's global influence is increasing. :D

You have to be rather a deranged idiot to believe that means Russian influence rises with it. In Central Asia it is Chinese influence replacing that of Russia.

The importance of the USA to the World has of course risen as a result of Putin's disastrous war.

No. The stranglehold the USA has on Europe has increased. The rest of the world has seen how the US uses the banks to steal assets and they are taking active steps to lessen their exposure to such theft by creating their own banking system. The Saudis agreeing to non-dollar payments for its oil is a very important first step. BRICs is just the start.

Surreal humor from Poland:
Scholz and Putin were sent to hell. After years of nothing, fresh newspapers have been delivered.
Putin picks up a newspaper and starts to laugh:
"Germany bankrupt after paying ww2 reparations to Poland."
Scholz picks up a different one and starts to laugh:
"Clashes on Polish-Chinese border."

The USA provides all the heavy-lift capability for The UK Armed forces and having China as an Ally will boost Russian 'force projection' capability.

About the jubilating comments from the Western press, denied by Gooner 1 in post 3781 :
On 23 February ( 1 year after the war started ) Reuters titled triumphantly :
'' Finland will send 3 L2 tanks suitable for mine clearing in Ukraine .''
Big help for Ukraine (haha ).
And Reuters continued:'' the three tanks are equipped with machine guns only and are intended to be used to clean ground mines before the main battle tanks are brought onto the battle field .''
Here Reuters admitted that these 3 tanks are not battle tanks .
And Reuters continued : ''the Finnish president said:Finland has almost 200 L2 tanks, but can not give much tanks .''
This is only laughing in people's face . 3 tanks with machine guns on a total of 200 is not not much, it is nothing .
The same day, another liberal DC media ( Politico ) titled ( better :lied ) : Spain and Finland will send L2 battle tanks to Ukraine .
In January Biden said that the US would send (at the end of the year ! ) 31 new Abrams, that had yet to be produced .
He refused to send 31 of the existing 4000 + Abrams .
Comment of the Pentagon : the Abrams is not suitable for the war in Ukraine .
Comment of the western media : the Abrams that will arrive in December 2023 ( almost 2 years after the start of the war ) are game-changers :31 US tanks will decide the outcome of the war and will finish this war .
Does the propaganda section of GD think that they can make people believe the most stupid inventions ?

It's not the West that is losing power and influence because of the Ukraine war, it's your Russian chums,

Wishful thinking. Imagine somebody would want to topple the lover of humanity Assad.  Unfortunately the intent to topple that mass murderer did not exist. Assad and Putin are both criminals.

The Institute for War, a think tank, said on Thursday that although Ukraine was still outnumbered by the Wagner group, Ukrainian forces "continue to exhaust the mercenaries, which will enable Ukrainian forces to pursue unspecified future offensive operations".

The Institute for War :a US think tank, funded by US defense contractors as ...General Dynamics .

ISW claims of 'culmination' are mostly made-up drivel. They actually don't know and don't have any real intelligence about it as they rely only on open sources. Their reports are only useful as a collection of open sources, Russian and Ukrainian, plus their mapping.

The analysis is mostly made-up pro Ukrainian propaganda that then gets repeated in Western media as an 'authoritative' source.

A look at their analysts and most of them have no military experience, many are young females with liberal arts degrees.

Now the neocons are making propaganda for the coming war with China!

https://www.understandingwar.org/backgr ... nse-taiwan

"This page collects links to products and other resources related to the Coalition Defense of Taiwan, a new collaboration between the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) and the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). Research Director Stephen Gailliot and ISW Senior Fellow Matthew McInnis join the AEI Senior Fellows Dan Blumenthal and Frederick W. Kagan leading this project.

The Coalition Defense of Taiwan project will examine alternative strategies for the United States and its allies to deter The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) aggression and, if necessary, defeat the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The initiative will assess Chinese campaigns against Taiwan and produce ongoing analysis over the next two years through essays, op-eds, analytical graphics, and strategic assessment reports, which will make recommendations for policymakers to address this major challenge."
