Does anyone know when he was executed was it 9.3.1942 or 9.4.1942 I have the following from his SS file:

Gemaess Mitteilung der Abt III des SS-Fuhrungshauptamtes wurde das vom SS und Polizeigericht VI Krakau gefallte Todesurteil gegen den ehem SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer Dr. v. Sauberzweig nach Bestatigung durch den Fuhrer am 9.03.1942, 18.37 Uhr in Krakau vollstreckt.

I know that is states 9.03.1942, but the document is dated 30.04.1942 and the "Fuhrerliste der Waffen-SS" which I have looked at states executed 9.04.1942. Any ideas anyone.

I looked through the file of Sauberzweig and found two documents listing his date of death as 9.3.1942 and the document from the end of April 1943 giving the date as 9.4.1942. The VDK internet database gives his date of death as 9.4.1942. The source of information for the VDK is usually thr Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) in Berlin whose source is usually a casualty report of some type. It is not unusual to find differing dates of death and unit assignments in the personnel files. Sometimes there is a difference of a day or two between what the VDK has in their database and the Verlustmeldung in the personnel file, but never as much as a month. Also, there is a document from 9.3.1942 that says that Hitler denied Sauberzweig`s request for leniency on that date and confirmed the verdict. The date of that March 9th document probably caused the discrepancy.
