Info wanted on German 'flying saucer'

#1

Post by Robert Hurst » 03 Jan 2004, 12:08

Hi

While I was looking through an old aviation magazine I came across the following photo of what was captioned as a German 'Flying Saucer'.

I would be most grateful if anyone can supply me with any info about this machine.

Yes, but the V-173 was merely a technology demonstrator for the Vought F5U STOL fighter, which never flew beyond just a few hops during taxi tests. Why didn't Arthur Sack place the engines for the AS-6 on the sides of the wing as in the V-173 and F5U?
