Hi HT,

They are not that good, I am afraid.

By the way, I finally realized you were talking about Herbert Loch and Kirchner in a previous identification. You are absolutely right, it was Loch. Well done.

Cheers

Who is it? It's not Bremer.

Who was he? Looks like a hauptmann in the DAK. Info that came with the picture said "Lagebesprechung bei der Kampfgruppe Hptm.Verlach(?)." Couldn't make out the last word.

Any suggestion? RK'ed before 16.6.42

Cheers

Looks like it says Welsch, could it be Willi Welsch?

Hi Daniel,

Very plausible. Welsch won his RK Sept 1941 as chef of SchutzRgt 110 which was part of 11 Pz. I assume he could have transferred to Afrika. Does anybody know?

BTW, your immediate previous post of an unknown RKT seemed to have a disproportionately large head -- looks like it was stuck onto someone else's body?

Cheers

Hello

Regarding the pic entitled 33.jpg and posted by Freiherr some pages ago, it is worth noting that the soldier is shown wearing what is seemingly the so called Spanish version of the wound badge. Beside he is also wearing a not common belt buckle. As far as I can see, this is not the standard Heer buckle but a WWI one.
Sorry not being able to give a name about him.
Here is the pic I am refering to.

Hello Ian
I am not sure but this might be one of the 3 following soldiers :

ENGELHARDT KURT 28/02/1945
FELDKAMP HEINRICH 14/04/1945
KRIEG GERHARD 28/03/1945

I based my opinion on the following assumptions:
- a member of the Sturmartillerie
- who was awarded the DKiG before the RK
- who has not posthumously been awarded the RK

Hope this helps
Regards
Denis

Knights Cross Holder - Unidentified

Post by Ian Sayer » 25 Feb 2004, 21:11

Hi Denis,
Thanks for your help but I don't think he's any of those. I think the photo was taken much earlier in the war and he has signed the photo. His first name looks like Fritz or Heinz and his surname looks like it might start with an L.
Best
Ian

When reading the signature correctly, it should be:
Oberfeldwebel Erich Bansen
Zugführer 1./schwere Panzerjäger-Abteilung 519
RK 15.3.1944

Cheers,

Hans
