Mystery solved. ObLt Paul Vincenz Jansky and Jäger Hans SieGLER of 49 Jg Rgt/ 28 Jg Div receiving RK's on 12.08.44. Commander was no other than Heistermann von Ziehlberg! Looked like von Ziehlberg had both arms. It was the regimental or battalion commander who didn't !
It also showed Siegler with his three PVA's. Perhaps Klemen or Daniel has access or a pic of Siegler?
Unfortunately, this was all that was available!
Oberstab, who was the the RKT next to Hermann Schulte-Heuthaus ?
Cheers
Freiherr

He served Nov.37-Nov.38 with lnf.Rgt.63, based in Bavaria (Ingolstadt). Nov.38-Aug.39 he served with lnf.Rgt.72, based at Dachau. Aug.39-Oct.42 he served as with training and replacement units of the Rgt. in Germany, where he served a.o. as equipment administrator.
Although he should not be transferred to a combat unit, being the only man in the family, he served Oct.42-April 43 with Infantry combat training units after which he was transferred to Fahr-Schw.212, a transport unit of the 212.lnf.Div., then operating in Russia (Wolchow). He also did a course in Panzer destruction!
Dec.43 he was transferred to Gren.Rgt.320 of the same Div., where he saw lots of action. 31 -1 -44 he was injured ( shrapnel). 1 -7-44 he was again injured by shrapnel (left cheek) and 15-7-44 he was severely injured ( shot through his belly and back) when a partisan unit broke through the german front line near Wilna (Lithuania).
For his heroic performance during this event, the Knights Cross was awarded to him. He was repatriated to Germany and stayed in his home town ( Pfaffenhofen, Bavaria) military hospital when the Knights Cross was issued to him Dec.44. He did not see active service anymore.
Very interesting group of a soldier who wasn't supposed to go to the front, but fate decided else for him.
